Yeah I was a bit worried about this. I sent a message to someone I know who lives out there as I had heard alot of different things since that french girl stupidly decided to top herself and spoil everyones fun. Anyway - he said in reply. "They always threaten to change the law but it never usually goes through, or the press don't report on the loopholes in the laws.. You wont have any trouble getting them from any smart shop." So - we will see eh?
I hate it that someone was hurt doing shrooms, but it just goes to show that people are messing with some strong stuff, and they just don't realize the impact it will have on their minds. How do you ban a fungis? The stuff grows wild around here. When I was in Amsterdam a few years ago I was surprised at the casual attitude taken towards the MAGIC MUSHROOMS as they were billed by the shopowners. Maybe shopowners should only offer this to apparently experienced heads. I stuck with weed while I was there, as I didn't want to bloody up my knees crawling around on cobblestones while tripping on shrooms. Been there, done that. My ancestors revered the psychodelic mushrooms, and they were considered sacred. They were approached with awe and reverence as a tool to help understand the universe we inhabit. Maybe we should consider an approach like this today as we partake of these celestial fungi.
Stories all say Mushrooms will be fazed out in the next few months, I wonder exactly how long you will still be able to get them? Then what will happen black market etc. Its a shame that a few incidents have caused this to happen. Well I guess it was t good to be true, good thing we have been and had them.
I hope they will slowly faze them out if they do, so we can enjoy them one more time come next april/queens day. da pigs like the shrooms.....
Mushroom ban protest mounts Tuesday 16 October 2007 Over 10,000 people have so far emailed ministers protesting about the planned ban on the sale of hallucenogenic mushrooms, according to website reddepaddo.nl (save the shroom). The cabinet said on Friday that fresh mushrooms were to be made illegal and placed under the opium laws. Dried mushrooms are already banned.
Its 30.000 people that sent the same from reddepaddo.nl now and there's going to be a protest saturday the 27th of october on the dam. I'm going to be there with all my friends and I hope it'll have some effect. It made me so incredibly sad to hear that they're going to illigalize them for &$*@^%- nothing!!! Fake stories and messages completely pulled out of proportion by the media.
You guys had to know that this was coming......the Dutch government has been dominated by the conservative CDA (Christian Democratic Appeal) party for some time. One of their policies was to end the toleration of soft drugs, even though alcohol and tobacco kill thousands more every year. One mushroom-related death compared to thousands country-wide and millions world-wide from alcohol and tobacco. What's also suprising is that some members of the VVD support the ban too, I didn't expect them to do so. I guess all capitalists fear the mushroom and psychedelics.......all they want is for people to fight and consume useless material possesions.
I would recommend going to the Magic Mushroom Gallery on Singel. Tell them you have never tried shrooms and they will be very helpful with you. There are usually about 5 different varieties in stock, ranging from mildest to strongest. They generally counsel you to start with something mild, see how you like it, and then move up the list. They will also tell you the best way to prepare and eat them and in what amounts. Your first shroom trip is best done in a controlled environment (like your hotel room) until you have a better idea of how it will affect you.
Very Sound advice. My first time I did exactly this. The smart shop employee told me the procedure. I bought the Mexican Mushrooms ate 1/2 waited about 45 minutes to an hour and ate the rest. Had an all day tour booked went on the canal boat. Better if someone goes with you not on shrooms. I was okay out of the room, but some might not be. I just didn't want to have to make any decisions for about 4 hours. Trip lasted 6 hours and was a blast. Will take a step up to a little more strength next time. I will discuss this with the smart shop person and make a decision based on that discussion.
