They sound like a latino Maroon 5. If you want real latin music, you'd be better off with the best, Los Lobos. Or at least something like Ozomatli.

I wouldn't call Los Lonely Boys real musicians either. They're nothing but a band played on the top 40 pop radio stations along with crap like Nina Sky, Sting, Chingy etc. Real musicians are The Flaming Lips, Elliott Smith, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Elvis Costello etc.

ok do u think a guy going to a van halen concert might just know a thing or 2 about music ive been playing guitar for 6 years asshole my favourite band is pink floyd, the los lonely boys are good musicians, im not saying there like stevie ray vaughan or anything but they can handle there insturments and sorry but they aint nothin like chingy rap fucking sucks. ive never even heard them on a radio station before non of my friends had even heard of them till i got the cd infact no one i know knows who they are. the way i found out about them was on leik public access channel haha they were doing a concert thing.

If for someone God awful reason you decided to turn on MTV(and somehow not come up with a 17 hour marathon of The Real World and Punk'D) you'll see their video. It's played more times a day(pop radio too) than JLO has boyfriends.

 

dont try and say youve never heard that junk on the radio. in dc there played on dc101 at least 3 times a day. they might be musicans, and can probably handle instruments, fine but they still suck in my mind.

 

k well i live in alberta canada and i seriosly not lying havent no one know who they are i just saw them do a gig on tv a while ago and thought they were good and if its only one song they play wats the big deal i dont buy cds for one song i saw the whole live performance so
oh by the way i played sax for 4 years but it was gay so i quit i play drums to and can play bass

 

no need for the sarcasm. im simply stating that the los lonely boys arent anything special. there are many more bands that make up my life than phish also bud.

 

Racoon - It's cool that you got tickets to see Halen. I really wouldn't want to see Van Haggar, honestly, but that's my own opinion. Eddie has some great chops, and I love Alex's drum work, but Sammy Haggar and Gary Cherone should have stayed out of Van Halen. Sammy can sing, but he shouldn't be in Van Halen. Flashback **1986** : Jon trys to make decision whether he'll seen Van Haggar or David Lee Roth with Steve Vai. I wonder which he's going to pick (D.L.R./S.V., no brainer!) Ofcourse, Jon is a mere 1 years old when making this decision. lol Either way, Van Haggar isn't too bad, and apparently you like them if you're going to see them. I hope you have a good time.

AbloodmoneyA - What is good music? What is a good band? Good is a subjective term. The only part of music, or a band's music, that can be measured in any legitimate form is the technical proficiency needed to play and write that type of music. Say a composition with varying time signatures at a high tempo like 150 beats per minute, with a lot of modulation would more than likely be judged to require more "technical proficiency" in order to be played and written than a song in common 4/4 time, with the same 4 or 5 chords being played over and over , with a melody based on the same scale over and over again. But, this is a very different thing than being "good" or "bad". Good music is entirely in the eye (ear) of the beholder, and a song being 'technical' or 'simple' has nothing to do with that. Good has to do with the way either song, technical or simple, hits the listener.

It's funny when someone believes that music's meaning is somehow nullified when it's put into the spot light. "They sold some records, therefore they now suck" is the flawed logic being used. Los Lonely boys are not my thing, but they're not a bad band because of that. They put together scales and chords to form a progression, harmony and melody, right? They strum guitars, sing and beat a drum set in a melodious way, right? And by melodious I mean something that is pleasing to someone's ear. So, they're musicians. You may not consider them to be 'good' musicians, but they're musicians, and you may not believe their songs are 'good' either, but they're still songs. Judging music is simply taste. This is why I hate "music critics". They get paid to tell others how 'good' or 'bad' an album was, and why do they have this right? Because they have a major in journalism and a minor in contemporary Jazz? Any musician, hack or not, can tell me what he thinks is good and what he thinks is bad, but I'm sure as hell not going to pay him to do it.

I didn't mention them being played on MTV a lot makes them suck, I mentioned that because Rocky Racoon says he's never heard them on the radio and has only seen them on public access tv. So instead of wasting your time writing giant paragraphs, take the time to read my fucking posts.

 

I read your post, and I knew that you were giving an example, but you were also implying that because you're on the radio often, or because you're on television often, you suck. I should have expected as much from a 15 year old, though. And beyond that, I wasn't saying that you were the person saying that, but I find it funny, certainly, when people believe that. You obviously believe they aren't good, but you aren't the only human being on this planet and even if you were versed extensively on classical theory (which is very clear that you're not) you still wouldn't be more than one opinion among billions.

Can you please formulate a legitimate argument instead of wasting everyone else's time talking about how good or bad someone else is? Why don't you go practice your "alto sax" and 'smoke' someone on it? You're such the musical savant and all.

Not all of us are majoring in music, you know. But even a mentally challenged 7 year old kid from Bosnia can figure out that Los Lonely Boys are terrible.
