Well I been giving clothes and things to the homeless about a year now and I grew tired of how the government just ignores them, I've seen homeless people at bustops while they are standing the bus will just pass them paying the no thought, I've seen them get arrested just for loitering. Well I got tired of it so I organized a protest in which I would get all the homeless people I knew and all people that support the homeless and we would stan in front of the capitol builing and give the food clothing and drinks and demand the government stop ignoring the homeless. I have a radio apperance already and alot of people calling me and giving me support. We altogether have put up about a thousand flyers arounf the city
I was going to do this without a permit because I thought it would make a bigger statement and be harder to ignore the homeless if we voluntarily were arrested ,a 65 year old lady living on 600 dollars a month called me and said she wouldnt mind getting arrested because the media would pay attention to that. Also I think it violates my first admenment right to peacefully assemble.

But the cops came to my school today and got me out of lunch and kept telling me I needed to get a permit and one of the cops called my parents twice.
So I need your advice permit or no permit?

p.s. I have no problem being arrested if the cause is just which I think it is.

    permits are for bureaucrats.
sounds like a great idea, just make sure the media gets your message to the masses.

honestly, your not gonna get in much trouble for not having a permit. if you wanna make a bigger statment, then do it without. they wont send you to JDC. maybe a fine. so have some money for the fine. cause youll have to pay that

I agree. I wouldn't get a permit. You're not going to do any time, just a fine. But make sure you will have PLENTY of media coverage before the protest. Call every news outlet you can think of.

Good luck! Sounds like a great idea.

Why not get a permit? Will you enjoy paying the fine, if you aren't arrested? Peaceful protest is seen as more credible when right is on your side. Martin Luther King Jr. got permits.

I would apply for the permit, since the police seem to be harassing you already. If you are denied the permit, notify all media and hold your protest anyway. It will make a bigger impact if you are denied your right to assemble, and are then arrested for doing so anyway. If you get the permit, you will be able to stay longer and get you message heard.

BTW, I applaud your efforts to help the homeless.
