I was wondering where exactly to set my post, but after seeing some "guncrazy"
topics here I decided to post in that forum.
As a resident of Massachusetts, I was recently wondering what is going to happen with me if I make a murder in that state and I am confessed "guilty". There is no capital punishment in Massachusetts and no executions have been reported since 1976 when the death penalty was restored in the U.S. I thought in my case I will get a life sentance and I will spend all my life in the jail, but I am now confused after reading the following:

"The method of execution of Federal prisoners for offenses under the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994 is that of the state in which the conviction took place, pursuant to 18 USC 3596. If the state has no death penalty, the judge may chose the method of another state. For offenses under the 1988 Drug Kingpin Law, the method of executions is lethal injection, pursuant to 28 CFR, Part 26."

So can someone explain what it is all about? Thanks.

each state comes up with it's own methods of execution (lethal injection, hanging, guillitine etc...).

in federal cases (when you are being tried by the federal government, not the state government), they pick from the method of execution from the state's list, but if the state doesn't have capital punishment, it can pick from another state's list.

So, you are telling me that I will be executed by the law of the other state, although there is not death penalty in Mass?

If you are capable of killing others, and you wish to die why not just snuff yourself. Why ask others be responsible? You need help.

Or is it that you are a capital punshiment proponent, and don't like the fact that the reasonable people of MA have chosen not to jump on the gunslinger right wing agenda and demand it?

If that's your motive not well stated.

If you are in deed just curious it sounds like the feds can kill you through lethal injection if the crime in MA is a federal crime.

i am amazed that a 'civilised' society... are still putting to death certain of your criminals; killing thousands in other countries panama, grenada, kuwait iraq..not to mention your fiefdom of israel punishing the palestinians for living..... i now see that you allow your federal government to override state jusidiction on the death penalty?
    you country is civilised ?
you'll be claiming you invented the jet engine next!

Nor sure why you are interested, but here is some info...
If you are charged by the state of Massachusetts, and convicted. You may spend your life in jail.
If you are charged by the Federal government, and convicted. You may get the death penalty and be transfered to another state to a Federal prison to await execution.

Now put the weapon down, take a deep breath, and calm down. Murder is wrong, for you and for the State or Federal government. Difference is, they can get away with it, you won't.

No, the jet engine was invented by [size=-1]Dr. Hans von Ohain in Germany.[IMG] However the electric chair was invented in the US. So we got that going for us.
Don't lump all Americans together, not all of us agree with Capital Punishment.
