I recently had my wisdom teeth pulled out..and my dentist gave my vicadin 2 weeks before the surgery because I was in pain..I guess my dad talked to my dentist to tell him not to give me anymore vicadin on any circumstances because he thought i was taking it too much..

Now i'm at the point where I really really could use some and I have none in my possession...

I live near chicago..does anyone know if I can get some online, or if anyone has any that I can buy?

    thanks so much

CALL THE DENTIST!!! He is obligated to treat your pain. In my opinion, Vicodin is not strong enough for post-op wisdom tooth extraction. The choice is NOT your Dads. It is between you and the dentist. You need to take responsibility for your healthcare and the initiative to correct the situation.

TwoStep, sorry 4 trying to say you were a narc or something. i was just bitching because I had just gotten another PM from a dude wanting to get a coke hookup from me. i also agree with Photo, the choice for Rxs to use should be between u and your doctor. unless your father has good reason to believe that you in fact did abuse vicadin. if that is the case, as a recreational opiate user and someone you has seen people take the ugly road of Rx addiction he did you a great service. Sucks about the pain though

    NO!!!!

The Dentist makes the decision. If you are in pain, I strongly encourage you to call the Dentist. He can take what your Dad says into consideration, but he still is obligated to treat you. Besides, there are countless alternatives to Vicodin. He could call something in to a local pharmacy, and you could have a friend pick it up. In my opinion, your Dad getting this involved in denying you treatment borderlines on child abuse and neglect.

I am glad you are feeling better, though, and I admire your respect for your parents. Just don't forget that you have rights too, though.

Photo is right, you have a right to your OWN health care! Some doctors of minors, however will only listen to parents, and a LOT of doctors (and even more dentists) are opiaphobes who think ANYONE is an addict!

I wish you were my OB. All I got after my last c section was oral Vicodin! They gave me morph and fent in my spinal then I got nothing but Toradol for 12 hours, then oral Vic. I coulda used a day or so of PAA morphine like I had with my other sections. There is just TOO MUCH opiaphobia in medical practice!

This kid is in pain, and his dentist is thinking a dozen or so Vics will turn him into a raving heroin addict. I hope you feel better and get some releif.

Just out of curiosity, how many Vicodin did your dad think was "too much" in two weeks?

I couldn't agree more! I am always advocating for pain relief. I would much rather have 10 abusers than have one person suffer in pain needlessly.

I think Toradol is crap. I can't believe it is still on the market. It can be very dangerous. Vicodin is definately not strong enough for post c-section. At the minimum, with your opiate history, I would have recommended Percocet 10/325, and if bleeding was not an issue, Anaprox DS every 8 hours.

In two weeks I think she very well could have taken 84 tablets of Vicodin 5/500. That would not be an excessive dose, depending on the pain (but if the pain was that severe, she shouldn't have had to wait 2 weeks for surgery).

PS, Opiaphobes, I like it. Never heard that term before...

"Opiaphobe" is a term I first heard coined on a migraine support group about 5 or 6 years ago. It's quite apropo for many doctors.:H

Sadly, a lot of docs in Chicago still use Toradol post surg.

I hope Two Step can get adequate pain relief. I have never had oral surgery, but I have heard it is not pleasant. Two Step, talk to your Denist, yourself, you can be in control of your own health care. Good luck.
