I was wondering if anyone could help me with this...

What I am looking for is a simple, 5-10 minute meditation/yoga routine that I could do daily in my room to keep me centered. Something simple, quick, but really works. I would really appreciate it, Thanks a lot. Peace be with you. :)

I don't think there is a quick 5-10 minute routine. Meditation is something much deeper. You are trying to center the mind by focusing on something. It can be religious like God or a Deity, or a mantra. The most well known Buddhist one is Om Mani Padme Hum. Or the Hare Krishna Maha Mantra, Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare.

You can meditate on the incoming and out going breath. Or you can simply visually focus on an object such as a flower and minutely study its every aspect. For all of these things you need time for the mind to calm its incessant chatter and to focus on the object of meditation. The frequency of the meditation and the greater the time in practicing, the greater the benefit. To achieve the benefits of meditation in just a few minutes I don't think can be achieved.

yes i agree, I think half a hour is at least needed to be honest. And to see real benefits maybe 1 hour or so a day.

it can sometimes take me over an hour to still my mind fully. Maybe 2hr to be honest.

Stand with legs shoulder width apart.
Breath in and out, slowly, through the nose.
Arms hang loosely by sides but not touching,
you don't want to short circuit the flow by touching.
Gaze off, with soft eyes, into the distance.
Sink a little at the knees but make sure they aren't
    bent too much.
Make sure no joints are locked and that every
part of your body is relaxed.
If you want you can lightly pad yourself first
    to get out the kinks.

Now stand, make sure your are breathing slowly
in and out the noise. Soft eyes gazing straight ahead.
Let them blur if it happens naturally.

Tongue at the roof of the mouth should help some with thoughts.

After about 3-5 minutes you may feel some trembling.
Sink into the trembling slightly. Feel your stomach
rise and fall with your gentle long inhales and exhales.

Stop at 6-10 minutes when you feel full.
Brush any excess energy from your limbs
    like you are straightening sheets.

Oh, and remember to smile it increases the light.

theres in no quick or easy way to meditate, it take time and commitment. Dont feel discouraged because you find it hard to centre your self at first, because everyone goes through that stage, if they tell you other wise there is a large chance they are lying. But persistence, lots of meditation pays off.Good luck

My Vajra Guru Yoga practice is immediately centering. One might consider looking up Guru Rinpoche.
