I've taken my daughter (who's going to be starting school at the end on the summer) on a road trip to see America before she starts school. We've been to a variety of places, but we will be spending a few days in Wisconsin next week (we're driving from South Dakota and Minnesota). Now no offence to Wisconsiners (or is it Wisconsinites), but the only things that I know about the place are the Green Bay Packers, the NPR show "Well whatya know?", the fact it snows there and the fact that Wisconsin was the only state to turn a profit during the Great Depression (because everyone was buying their milk, beef, butter and cheese) and the voracity of that last one is a little dubious. So can anyone tell me if there's anything you'd recommend seeing or doing there? Or is it something that I should rush through as quickly as possible?
Devil's Lake is a beautiful state park that you could visit. In Milwaukee there is a lot to do, we have a really good museum and if you are looking for something outdoors the lakefront has a lot of activities. If you are interested in Milwaukee I could tell you some specific things that are cool to do there. Same with Madison... Madison is an amazing city... really great free zoo, the state capital, hiking, the campus.... Any ways hope this helps you a little.
the best things to do in wisconsin are enjoy the outdoors. take a lot of walks and see all that we have to offer. I love it here.
I'm from wisconsin and the only thing i have found is to get fucked up so the time til; death passes a little slower.
I agree, go somewhere Up-North for the "outdoorsy" adventure, if you are into city-life, Milwaukee is the place to be. Summerfest is taking place right now, if you're in town for that, you won't wanna miss it. Hm, but yeah door county has a outdoor theater, head to that. Camp in minoqua, a few sites. Theres alot of hiking trails, i'd enjoy the nature, alrighty?
cave of the mounds is a must see!!! it's absolutely stunning, and just west of madison. the dells are always fun...bit of a tourist trap but noak's ark and the dells duck tours are well worth it. there's lots of fun museums in madison and milwaukee, including a great children's museum near the capitol. devil's lake is great for hiking and camping, and i think it's now open again - after all the flooding!
