I belive global warming is very true. We can stop it but at great cost to our economies and global slump.

But if the worst happens. We dont do anything about it, we keep burning fossil fuels. The world floods, millions die and more made homeless. Massive economic collapse.

Personally I think it would be far better for the world in the long run. Overpopulation will be a far worse problem if the world carries on as it is.

The world is doing this to balance itself out.

Maybe after the disaster and the power of the world is rebalanced the world will be a far better place.

Actually, it would cost just 0.3% of gross world product to eliminate our use of fossil fuels (build infrastructure and provide funding for additional research). The estimated costs at the end of this century if we stay with a "business as usual" scenario are 5 - 10% of gross world product. Some countries will be relatively less affected while others are substantially more affected. For instance, some island nations could literally be under water and thereby wiped off the map. Also, this doesn't factor in issues like what to do with several hundred million refugees...

I hope you realize how huge 5-10% of the economy is...But yah, in the end overpopulation is a far worse threat.

Problems associated with overpopulation will be remarkably amplified if very rapid climate change occurs. Either is a serious problem, and combined...well, look out.

My guess it would be worse if climate change doesnt happen. The earth would die of slow strangulation. Climate change would help solve the over population. But if no disaster came, then the world would not be so much of a nice place anymore.

The sky is falling the ocean is rising, at the same time you seem to forget that countries are waging war and their war machines are using way more resources and polluting agents than the average consumer has any control over.

Ask president Bush what he's doing to decrease co2 emissions with his war machine.

As for projected epidemics, Rumsfield is sitting pretty reaping his profits off a bird influensia that never happened. Instead of fearing for some incredible projection, protect your children demand an end to war.

I think bird flu is a genuine concern. Scientists saw it's potential very early and people felt duped that it didn't happen the next day. Now it's become something of a joke. As far as the war goes it's kind of pointless to demand something from a dictator.
