Has anybody come across them yet? I live by Dartmoor in Devon so by reason it should be a prime hunting ground but alas not as yet. Perhaps we need some rain but it is getting late without these fungi popping up. Any thoughts?
Lol, i just went to try find some, but couldnt, its weird cos i found sum last year. i did find a random shroom tho . and ate it to see if it did anything. . . haha.
um ... that's rather stupid. what if it were a poisonous shroom. if it was 'random' you didn't know what it was. it could have killed you.
The season seems to have arrived finally, and due to the unusually warm weather the mushroom picking season looks to be a long and fruitful one. That was a foolish thing to do, never EVER eat an un-identified mushroom, for a majority of poisonous mushrooms, you won't know you have eaten a toxic one until your liver and kidneys pack up and you die.
hopefully she'll continue to post so we know she is still alive and well. this is the main reason i don't go 'hunting' for mushrooms and never have. i'd be way too afraid of finding the wrong ones and accidentally falling off the mortal coil.
/\ Aye, indeed. I wouldn't risk it either - I know there's plenty that do, so I'd feel alright going with someone who'd done it before. Knew where to go and everything. But I wouldn't chance it on my own.
Mate, don't know what you're talking about, my mate also lives on Dartmoor and has been picking up quite a few for the past couple of weeks. They're about.
so i saw a whole patch of mushrooms near my father in laws workshop and went and picked nearly all of them, but now even after looking at Shroomery, I have no idea if they are the 'magic' variety or the ones that will make me ill. so i may just have to throw them all away. it was an attempt ... though flawed tragically by the fact that i don't know enough about mushrooms to easily identify any. they weren't liberty caps that's for sure; but they look very similar to a couple of other strains of 'magic' mushrooms. however, they could also look very similar to those that will make me vomit profusely as well. i'd rather bin them all then end up in A&E.
What you should do is feed them to a child ... if it dies, bin them, if it starts wobbling and smiling, job's a good'un
 the really sad thing is i was contemplating (briefly) just who i could experiment on really i'm not evil, i swear!
