    Hi, people.

Usually my blood pressure is at the normal ranges (110/70), but today I had a regular checking in a clinic and it was 135/80. The doctor told me it is because of too much stress. I am 27 years old, 70 kgs, I do not smoke and I do not drink. Is there a point of concern and what should I do to return my pressure in the normal limits. Thanks a lot.

yea, you need to have it checked more often to see if a trend is going on and if its rising anymore.

mine fluctuates. to swim at school, i have to get it checked frequently. but its gotten a lot better since i started swimming.

at 135/80, i really woulnd't be worry too much, unless its continually rising.

dspiel is right on the mark.

One reading doesn't mean much, it's the trend, as others said. You need 3 separate office visits to diagnose hypertension (which is systolic >140 or diastolic >90). And your one reading would put you in the prehypertensive category, if repeated.

Bottom line--it probably doesn't mean much, but you might want to get measured more often to look for a trend, and do follow dspiel's advice about activity and lifestyle. Destressing is always good! Good luck.
