I don’t have a cure, but I do have a preventative exercise which involves lying on the floor, then arching my back with my head and feet squarely on the floor.

I’ve never once experienced back pain [IMG]

    Yet :leaving:

I read this, tried to get my mind around the idea and...... I have come to the conclusion that if I tried that the next thing would be an ambulance ride and alot of people wondering just what the hell I thought I was doing. I should have started that sorta thing when I was young, flexible and before I broke my back.

Now does that hurt your head when you do that?

lie on you back with a pillow under your knees to take the pressure off your lower back!

According to reflexology, your back is linked to the arch of your foot. Give it a good deep massage, and if you feel an especially painful spot on your arch, give it some extra attention, gently. It works for my wife who frequently experiences back pain. Good luck!

    Peace :)

I think it depends on what's wrong with your back->pulled muscle or slipped disk or pinched nerve, etc. One thing you can do that isn't going to do any damage (unless you've broken something in which case you should go to the hospital and ask for lots of morphine) is to bring your knees as far up to your chest as possible, like in the fetal position. If it hurts too much just bend your knees as much as you can and as the pain subsides bring them closer to your chest. Works for me anyways (2 lower back injuries but no breaks).

kidneys and prostrate are both possible culprets, along with herniated disks of course, and the equivelant of periferal onboard software failures of the central nervois system.

pulled and strained muscles are of course the most common. but generally go a way with a bit of relaxation and message.

LOWER back, COULD be prostrate. UPPER could be kidney stones. i'm of course talking WORST case. if it doesn't go away one its on in two or three days of not being re-stressed, time to visit the doc and see what's up. all of those improvised traction concepts can sometimes work. IF its just pulled or strained muscles, which it usually is. i'm not doc either. just releying my own experience.

i know that sometimes after i've over eaten, when i was already over tired and should have gone to sleep instead, i get terribly cramping pain in my middle back/kidneys area, that keeps me awaike and won't go away for anything. i kind find a position that is almost comfortable for a little while but then it comes back and i have to keep finding another. eventually i do fall asleep, and wake up with it all or mostly gone.

so i really think not getting enough sleep can be a BIG factor too. there are other unpleasant things my boddy does to me when i don't also. like the tops of my feet swelling up.
