I went to a Fudruckers today all excited to get their portabella mushroom cap sandwich. When I got there I placed my order and the girl said "We don't have that anymore" (bummer) So I asked "Really? Ok, what do you have that doesnt' contain meat? No beef, no chicken, because I am a vegetarian." To which she replies "We have a lot of things that are made with chicken." I felt dumber just for listening to her, but it was amusing to me.
:lol I hear that a lot too. At least it's good for a laugh! Portabellas are REALLY easy to grill up. Marinate them for 15-30 minutes in something thick, (I use fat-free Italian salad dressing or a cranberry barbecue sauce) and have a meatosaur cook them as long as you would a hot-dog... I think DH said it takes about 5 minutes each side? Top them with absolutely anything you can think of that would go on a burger. They're SOOO good! love, mom
Oh yes, I know all about grilling portabello mushrooms. They're my favorite food. I eat so many portabello mushroom sandwiches it's crazy... I use balsamic vineager, it's fantastic. I just thought it'd be nice to have one made for me for a change instead of me making it.
Not off topic as far as I am concerned... and yes I agree whole heartedly. In fact I am about to make some grilled portobello mushrooms right now.
*facepalm* That's ridiculous. And grilled portobellos ARE summer to me. We should start a portobello club!
That's so funny. I was at Fuddrucker's tonight as well. Their response to me was, "we have Tuna." "Tuna is meat" "No it's not meat, it's fish." "No tuna is meat. It was a living breathing creature. It's meat." French fries and onion rings for me thank you. Kathi
Lol this happened to me at BK. I asked for a veggie burger, and they asked "would you like bacon on that?'
Yes they do. When I told them it needed improvement they said "But it's a boca burger" to which I replied "It still needs improvement" Tasted like I was eating stuffing squashed into a patty on a bun. Really I think if they had cooked it a bit more it might have been ok. But a brand name isn't going to change my mind if it was good or not.
my omni sweetie does do that: order a veggie with bacon. Old Glory has a T-shirt that reads: veggie burgers are better with bacon. I'm tempted to get two, one for him, and one for me, with a bit of editing on mine: ^ tempeh. so it would read veggie burgers are better with tempeh bacon.
They do have a veggie burger but after my experience with a few other veggie burgers out, I'd rather not haveone thank you. Kathi
