Fall Out Against The War 11 Regional Demonstrations On October 27, people from all walks of life will gather at sites around the country for 11 regional demonstrations. People everywhere want the war to end, but Washington has failed to take decisive action. With each passing month, nearly 100 service-people and countless more Iraqis are killed, some 12 billion of our tax dollars are spent, and the death and destruction continue. Our communities – from New Orleans to Minneapolis – are neglected and suffer the consequences. From Boston to Los Angeles, from New York to New Orleans, later this month the people will speak: We want this war to end, and we want it to end now! Aw, man! For a minute there, I got all excited about being able to go to another protest, but then I went to the website and, guess what? It's the wonderful protest day that has no protests in D.C.! Seriously? I can understand them wanting to have regional protests, but what are we supposed to do if we actually live in the DC area? Arg. Oh well, I'm going to the No War, No Warming protest the week before, and I guess it's probably not a good idea to risk arrest two weekends in a row... :/
Eh, I'm a college student... I'm not going to pay a bunch of money for Amtrak tickets and then sit on a train for that much time... It's just not too practical. :/ Unless I can find a friend to go with and convince my dad to pay for the train tickets, lol.
I You Have to Complain About Train Tickets And Convenience "then Y WOULD YOU" Give too Shits About the US Men And Women Dying to Give Us that Freedom To Live in A Convenient Country", That All You Asshole Take Advantage Of Or NOT... give Me A Break And Get A Clue...... If U Are A Collage Student, (Sorry Dadddy Your Hard Working Money Is Going Nowere)....

I'm thinking of going to the one in Chicago. Its only about an hour drive away from here, and its not like I'd have to stay the night anywhere. The only issue is transportation. Maybe I'll convince someone else go to, preferably someone with a car haha.
Masel tov to all of you wonderful people who are driving for hours to get there. You guys rock! For anyone else out there who sucks like I do, check out the October 27 website (http://www.oct27.org/solidarity_actions) for info on local protests.
Went to the one in jonesborough, and I have to say that I was sorta disappointed. We had a pretty decent turnout (300+), but it showed me the problems with the peace movement. We weren't engaging in any true conversation with the other side, like what I've seen at other protests. I tried to get people to be more visible, but no one would listen to me. The only thing I found entertaining was the pro-war rally across the street. One guy yelling "Guet outta Johnesburl!" And the guy wasn't even from Jonesborough. Everyone was just content in sitting around, listening to people tell us things we already knew. No one was willing to engage in anything other than preaching to the choir. And I heard a lot of stuff about why we should stop the war, but no real new ideas on how we should go about ending the war. The peace movement won't work if we aren't willing to confront people. I'm not calling for violence, but more of an exchange of ideas.
BTW, I must applaud the Jonesborough police dept. They were nice to all the protestors, and they made sure the pro-war group didn't pick any fights. Nicest cops I've seen.
