When I was younger I used to go to my shed, fire up the woodstove, light the oil lamp, and just reflect on life; my future and my present, (you can see the shed or cabin in my gallery). Now I either climb up in the very large maple tree in my backyard or swing in the hammock beneath the tree. Another one of my favorite places is swimming in my backyard pool late in the night or early morning and gazing into the night sky. In fact that is where I was during the last metor shower at 4 in the morning; what a sight. The only problem is the pool at night is a draw to the neighborhood bats and they are hard to see in the dark. :bat:Well, I told you my favorite spots to reflect life now I want to hear yours.

I tried to answer you, but I decided to shorten my sayings into one word:

out on the water. I surf, and there is no better time of day than sitting out in the water, with life below and above me, watching the sun rise, and catching that wave that I will be thinking about all day. It's like being baptized.....its such a cleansing, refreshing feeling. I get to see the world from a different perspective out there. And its usually at that time of day that the rest of the world hasn't woken up to yet. It is a beautiful place to reflect, but also it is the best place to sometimes just forget life and the problems with it. To just be.

    It is very special................................

Besides anywhere I would have to mention a random, desolated mountain in Tibet. The pureness, the breathtakingness, the vastness, the roughness, the wildness, the spiritual.
High up in the middle of the night at one of the mountains that kiss the heavens. Looking up, seeing the billions of stars and the clearness of the milkyway. It makes you realise what a little speck of dust we really are. it makes you realise how beautiful life is. It makes your realise you are alive. And above all, it makes you truly feel alive.

The back porch of my parent's house; it has a nice view out in the country. There's a lot of good places in their yard. I like to think outside somewhere.

My favorite is up in WV mountains on the Cranberry River in the Monongahela National Forest. Once you hike a few miles past the gate at the campground, you have the place to yourself except for the occasional fisherman. Some people go for the golden trout, I go for the serenity. I go as often as I can, even if its just a weekend. It rejuvenates me body and soul!

At home I go in the woods behind my house, up on top of a little hill. You might find me there at 2 am laying under the stars.

I'd have to agree, just about any place where I'm completely surrounded by nature sets my mind at peace. A nice view can't hurt either....just the peaceful sounds of mother nature and all her visual beauty. It's all so captivating, plus there's always much more than what meets the eye.

My family had a nice cottage up in Canada for many years. That was the place for me! Sadly they sold it. :/

There is nothing better then taking a brisk hike up a scenic mountain, sitting up top having a sandwich, a bottle of wine and whatever else you desire and sharing this with someone you really vibe with. Reflecting together in silence is the ultimate in togetherness in my opinion. Sharing a moment together staring out into bliss no words, no motion just that sense of unbelievable beauty and awareness is magic.

For me Mt Walker Washington is such a place... 2.5 mile 1900ft climb with (on a clear day) views of Seattle and the Cascade mountain range. Merhut Falls trails in the Olympic forest also...

Colorado.. red rocks... watching the band you came to see as the sun sets, your feeling warm n cozy inside... that ONE song you really wanted to hear is on... MAGIC!!!

i live right by a river so i spend a lot of time just sitting on a log on the bank. its a great spot, i have so many memories there so it automatically puts me in reflection mode. but i can also agree with 'anywhere in nature'.
