Is the soul self-aware?

A lot of people think the soul is the same as consciousness, and that if the soul is immortal, we still retain memories and personality.

I've been thinking lately, that maybe the soul is not something unique and self-aware. I think of the soul as the energy that drives all life and forces in the universe. It is the intangible energy that causes our blood to flow, plants to grow and the Earth to spin. In other words, your soul isn't really something belonging to you, but is rather some essence of life.

When we die, this energy that once inhabited our body dissipates into some sort of collective energy source that is everywhere/beyond time and space.

Just an idea.

 

the essence of life your speaking of is called Prana
and this prana streams out from your conciousness
manifesting the physical reality that we all perceive
to be existance. This sublte energy is of course
very real, and does not need to be scientifically
proven (which it can not be) but rather understood
by one who can get past the delusional dualistic
veil of nature, called maya.
The essence of your awareness, the soul, the Self
(atma) is not personal and does not rettain any
concept of continuation as regards your current life
experience. It does however, advance through
levels of awakening in the causal/mental plane and
over time liberates itself through evolution of
conciousness. The cosmic conciousness, beyond
the nirvanic and buddhic planes, enlightenment,
whatever you know it by, is the 3rd (and quite
possible last? or highest?) stage of conciousness
evolution after basic and self (ego) consciousness.
To attain the next stage of evolution would be
to merge into the trancendental nature of being
one with God, as God is all that is and is not in
this universe.
Or, to put it simply, to merge your little light into
oneness with the Big Light :tongue:
Upon awakening into God realization, karma would
cease being generated and that's it, eternity and
infinity is attained and personality is forever gone,
as if it never existed, which in the true nature of
itself it does not exist and is only an illusion.
Reverse the prana flow to the source of it's emanation
All Cats, God is within and the soul is but a part
of the whole.
