my hairs just past shoulder length its thick and wirey and ive come to a crossroads i dont know wether or not just to shave to the scalp or dread it, thing thats got me thinking is i condition my hair every other day but i dont really brush it( lazy i know) but ive noticed all over my head its started knotting especialy at the back theres like 4 or 5 long clumps that just wont come out no matter how much i try, so is that my hair just locking naturaly and if it is whats the best way to go about making it happen all over my head? ie was or somthing?

also would it help if i posted a picture of what i think are the locks and also my hair in general cos i need to decied what style to go for soon cos im booked in to hair dressers friday to shave it off unless i decied to do this

i would say just stop using conditioner, wash once a week with residue free soap, and wait...

stop wasting your money on conditioner and let your hair dread.

wow that looks really really cool! you have perfect hair for dreads, it would be a crime for you to shave it all off! if you just stop conditioning, let your hair form into those locky ringlet things, and let those mat up, you will have really cool dreads. of course you can help them along if you like, but you really dont have to. your hair looks so cool just like that.

ah you have got what hhb had with his hair ,, it just dreaded on its own in the beginning ,,, so much so that brushing n such got to be a chore cuz them lil volunteer dreadlings were not coming out... so we just let his do there own thing n rip a time or two a week.. no rolling no anything,,, they truly are an amazing mess:) but i really like them,,,, n think when the process has finished with his entire head... been bout 10 months now n is finally getting there.... although his hair shrinkage has been rather phenomenal
