Oh boy, landon has gotten soo big. I thought I'd post an update. Hes 5 1/2 months and he's a big boy. 22 lbs! We just started him solid food because he's taking 6-8 8oz. bottles a day. Eveyone tells me I'm over feeding him, but what am I supposed to do? I can't let him go hungry... Any advice? He does eat alot and our ped. said that giving him solid food a few times a day would cause him to want less formula but he usually still wants a full bottle after a feeding. I just get so much conflicting advice about feeding... I just assume that he's getting what he needs and he's just a big boy but I don't know. It's also getting very hard for me to lift him and carry him around all day. My back and neck and shoulders are killing me because I usually carry him on my hip. don't know what to do about that either... I can't not pick him up, he's only 5 months and barely startng to crawl.. Anyway... besides that everything is great. Here's some recent pictures... :)

Follow your own intuition when it comes to feeding him. You might find that he's a super chunky baby because he's going to be a super active toddler that doesn't eat much of anything at all! Just look out for the warning signs of food intolerance in what you feed him, and make sure to avoid grains for now. :)

As far as carrying him, do you have a mei-tai? It would evenly distribute his weight. Moire is a chunk too and back-carrying her really helped us!

Yeah, that's pretty much exactly what I've been thinking. Just can't help but worry a bit though when everyones acting like I'm doing something wrong.

I have been thinking about getting a mei-tai. I have 2 other carriers that almost make it harder to carry him, so I'm hesitant to get another one. I have the evenflo snugli and a moby wrap. I haven't tried all the different hold with the wrap though, and I never really got used to using it so it was kind of more of a hassle than a help.

wow, what a cutie you have there!
I second freek's advice about the mei tai. I bought one for this baby that's coming and was even able to carry leane (who's well over 30 lbs) in it. I had a crappy snugli carrier for her when she was born and the thing was just a pain...but it still made getting things done around the house a TON easier, and she was happy as a clam. She was always a huge kid, so lifting her on my own was not an option, lol
Hell, she's already over half my height!!!!! scary!
As for the feeding thing, leane was eating the same amount of forumla at the same age. I was really concerned about it, but she's completely healthy...I find that a lot of formula feeding moms post the same thing about their kids eating a lot of food at that age. Leane was a porker...now I have to argue with her to eat anything...I have never met such a picky eater in my life! I'm always worried she's not getting enough food compared to how much she used to eat, but she's perfectly healthy. Overall, I really don't think you have much to worry about. As I introduced soilds to her and gradually cut back her bottles, her appetite kinda evened out a little more. I think the age has a big thing to do with it. He's almost 6 months old, there's lots of stuff going on with that little guy and he's learning so much every second...he needs something to fuel all the work!
