I have been fighting depression for a few years now, but just a few days ago I ended up in the emergency room because I was having thought of self harming (I have self harmed in the past but thought I was past it) they wanted to send me to a psychiatric hospital but I opted for medication instead (ativan). Just wanted to know if there is anyone else out there with the same problems and how did you cope.

    Thanks

Be careful with Ativan. It's more addictive than they tell you.

it's not good over long periods neuro-toxicity wise
it's very bad on your short - long term memory
it's bad to even have some casuall drinks with it
I suffer (seriously) from severe panic/anxiety and depression disorders
and I can honestly say that having a shrink you can trust and feel comfortable with
(medically liscensed or not) can really help you deal with it , even if its just you rambling about your problems to a understanding friend

replacing your current meds w/ medicinal cannabis and some friends to have a light- hearted laugh with is a good guick fix for real bad times

When you are thinking of self harming, preoccupy your mind. It has helped me numerous times.

ativan is not an anti-depressant... curious that you got prescribed that for depression issues?

There is a good natural remedy for depression: Bach Flower Remedies.
They are not addictive and harmless as they are made of flowers. Surprisingly, they actually work.

If you want to learn about these, go here:

The above link does not contain background information about the theory and history of these flowers, so go here if you want to learn about them:

If you want to learn how to use these, let me know.

Ive been on many meds such as prozac, zoloft, provigil, trazadone, wellbutrin, citalopram, and the docs even put me on lithium for awhile. These medications all caused more harm than good. I no longer take any meds and am doing very well, for me i found it was truly my state of mind. After changing this there was no more thoughts of suicide or self injury.

This worked for me but i don't recomend going off your meds , it took me two years to figure out how to control my depression
