I see alot of people whos dreads have grown so they have loose hair for several inches at the roots and then dreads. What are the best ways of keeping your dreads tight at the roots that are not damageing to your dreads?

I meant in the long run. When you hair grows the hair grows out undreaded (obviously). I have seen plenty of people friends included who as their hair as grown over time they've just ended up with unknotted roots and dreads that start halfway down their head.

i've actualu only seen that on a couple & ithink the 1 at least had started with extentions, and the other i think always kept hers wrapped up tight so only the ends could move & knott
your hair should knot towards the roots naturaly, simply tying a knot or putting a bead in the end of loose haire should make it dread towardsthe root from there..so it must be a problem with the hair not moving & knotting enough, or something making it too stiff
