I just finished off the last bowl of cream of rye. I keep the Old Wessex Scottish and Irish oatmeals on the shelf. During these colder autumn and winter months I like to heat up a bowl of cereal and add a pear or banana. Sometimes a drizzle of honey or a dot of yogurt just puts it all together. Of course, on Weight Watchers that's probably the biggest meal of the day for me! Anyone else here into hot cereals ? Huh ?
I like fish porridge best. Or eel. Served hot. With white pepper. Sometimes the fish is already a bit salted hence no soy sauce. If not, then a dash of the black liquid.
Oh, man....my Chinese ex-gf used to make porridge for me for breakfast that had rice, onion, thousand-year egg, and a few other things thrown in it...it tasted so good...I miss that a lot...
I use a variety of grains, I cook quinoa and millet for a few minutes, add oat and barley flakes, fruit, vanilla extract, cook a few minutes more. When done I stir in brown sugar. yummy
Steel cut oats are my current favorite porridge, with ground flax, cinnamon, some udo's oil for a bit of a creamy texture and some ace omega's and a bit of liquid stevia to sweeten without the calories, yum!
