So i've purchased some pursian white opium seeds and looked up how to grow it. It seems really freaking easy. The temperatures i'm working with seem ideal and it seems like you have to give it very little attention. Am i missing something? If its so easy why the hell isn't there a ton of it in the states. Feel like i'm missing some huge step. Any information or tips would be great. thanks.

that doesn't mean they are the strain that produced actual opium one uses to smoke. Theres a buncha different strains, i believe Papaver somniferum is the one your looking for. Of course i could very well be completely wrong on everything i just said.

Well I Researched The Seeds I Got . And They Come From Austraila . I Dont Hink Austraila Grows Anything But Papavar Somniferum Seeds . But I Could Be Wrong . There Is Only One Way To Find Out And That Is To Wait For Them To Grow

Papaver Somniferum is the correct strain for opium producing poppies. Once your Shocker - you'll have to let us know how your project turns out once those poppies mature!

The store-bought varieties of poppy seeds are indeed papaver somniferum seeds and will germinate into opium-producing plants. In fact if you do an extraction with enough poppy seeds you can make an opium tea but it's not worth buying all the poppy seeds IMO.

People do cultivate p. somni more than you know. A lot of people grow them without any intent to use them recreationally/medicinally because poppies are just popular flowers to grow. The easiest way to plant the seeds is to dig up a piece of land that gets lots of sun exposure, leaving 1 sq. ft. per plant to grow. You fill this area in with some nutrient-rich soil and backfill the hole with the dug-out soil as well if you want. It's a good idea to add some perlite or gardening sand because opium poppies like well-draining soils.

These plants are indeed like weeds and all you have to do once you've prepared a piece of land is broadcast the seeds, which if you have any you'll likely have thousands. You can thin out the seedlings as they grow or let them thin themselves out. Weeding will help so that other plants aren't competing for the nutrients. You don't have to prepare the piece of land but you'll get much better results this way.

Most important part is that it's planted on a well-draining soil. Excessively moist plants will not flourish.
