What are some things that are supposed to happen when you meditate? I know a good amount but i'm curious what you guy's have to say. What are some of the more far fetched things that happen?
Some people say they can leave their body, some hear voices or sounds (I've heard chimes before and while stoned and meditating I've heard bees buzzing and a waterfall), you can have a feeling of being bigger then yourself, which is hard to describe, you can feel like your floating, be flooded with bliss and ecstasy. Or nothing at all will happen.
^^^Right on point!! Also in deep meditation you can free yourself from your body and your senses will be what defines you (hard to put into words but an amazing feeling of onefulness)..........
I would not concern yourself at all with whats supposed to happen. Going into meditation with expectations is setting yourself up for a fall. Find yourself a method you have faith in, follow it with patience and within time whats supposed to happen will do. Apart from following the method with patience and perserviance there is nothing else within our power. It's no good concerning ourselves with things outside our control. Thats my take on it anyhow. Good Luck.
Dear Mr.Relayer, So your chanting Om now, huh prabhu? Where have you been my friend, in nirvikalpa samadhi? Love, Yogin Bhairava Atmabhoda Sarasvati.
Namaste Man On The Hill, "Om" is the syllable for the sound vibrational impulse by which the source Father God Shiva becomes the female aspect of God, "The Devi", thereby initiating creation. Om is a causal pranic sound that is technically indicative of the Kundalini. So when uttered as a Mantra, it resonates back into its source, which by the way is also the source of your finite consciousness. For some additional and deeper info on this, go to my website, www.kundalinidream.org. Namaste, Yogin Bhairava Atmabhoda Sarasvati
The goal of meditation is to achieve a state known as "dhyana ekagra', or meditarive onepointedness. The word for and practice of what we technically know as meditation comes from the upanishadic/tantric tradition. It was not just dreamed up nor is it just any old thing you do with your head. If you do indeed achieve dhyana ekagra, or simple mental internal onepointedness, which can be accomplished through OM chanting, you can very well feel your ego consciousness reverse its outward flow of cognition into an inward flow termed "nivritti". This can not be forced but will occur on its own through time. Pranayama should be done also, as thought is prana, and pranayama can help assist its rerversal into nivritti. Intent is an illusion. If you are trying to meditate, God as your source mind is trying to wake up beyond your ego self. Karma is the ego moving out as thought. Dharma is the higher inner pull to move inward and beyond it. Om Namah Shivaya
I didnt even see this post Yogi! Yes and the other night I got lost in what can only be described as an ocean inside that swept me away in the foam. Roaring ocean growing louder and louder, by far the most beautiful moment I've had thus far The cry of universe -
Many things can happen when you meditate. It depends where you place your mind. You can meditate to relax, focus, sleep, rejuvenate, connect spiritually, and to some even heal. For example I was sitting in class about 30 minutes before it was gonna start and I had to take a test. I had these horrible stomach cramps and was thinking "oh how am i gonna take this test or even sit through it in this pain". So I began to meditate my pain away. It worked and I'm sure I got an A on that beast
wowwww...the breathing one worked for me...i didnt really see or hear anything....but it was my first time...i just felt at peace for once i couldnt think of anything and my head was just empty....it felt great
Congratulations, you just took the first step on the path to enlightenment Carry on brother, carry on. ~PeAcE & LoVe~
i hear tons of noises, almost like i can hear people in the next building, and some i know aren't of this earth. i sometimes see a split-second of vision. the other day, though, i saw what i believe to be the original language....i saw a person run towards me and fall out of view, too.
