Ah, summer's come and gone.... well, not officially gone for a few more days yet, but pretty much it.... A few months ago, over the course of the spring, I had requested some custom clothes to be made... from all sorts of people, fully willing to pay for the clothes, shipping, etc... hipforums folks, etsy folks, well, at the end of it all I was waiting to get some from at least 5 or 6 different people - the entire summer has jetted by, and I've nothing! I haven't paid for any of these things, mind you, and thankfully; I was waiting for these items to be made before being billed for it, but I haven't heard back from anyone! What were the odds of that happening? Granted, I'm not complaining. Well, not really. I'm sure summer plans have kept everyone busy - summer has flown right by for me. But I was a bit disappointed though. I had a few events happening this summer that I would've liked to wear some of the things I was waiting for. Oh well. Hopefully something of interest can be conjured up next summer! Either that or I have to learn how to use that pesky sewing machine of mine!
Awww that's too bad! I had something similar happen to me. I plan on making my own wedding dress and I custom ordered special fabric from a woman who makes fabric in Montana. I figured I'd order from her because I love supporting the small business. I've contacted her several times and nothing...depressing. I'm going to have to go to JoAnnes because I have to get going on this!
I admit it has been a busy summer and I had a hard time making time to get my customs done. I just didn't take on more than I thought I could handle and in all honesty I only had one pair of pants that I felt took me a little too long but the person that purchased them thought I was speedy and he was happy with his purchase. I always try to keep in touch with people that I'm making customs for so they know that I am working on their clothes and not blowing them off. I think contacting them directly (though you have probably already tried this) would be your best bet, if only to tell them that you have waited all summer and would prefer to NOT have that custom made that you ordered. Might make them realize that they lost a sale and a potential repeat customer. I'm sorry you had this happen multiple times, for future reference I don't advertise that I do customs but I will on occasion take one on depending on what it is and if I feel I have time. Better luck next time.
aw Sabrina that sucks! If you need me to make you any pretty skirts or bags or anything let me know. i get custom orders done in well under a week (sewing ones..not knit/crochet) I hope you get the things you need good luck!
I have... and as the summer progressed I've even given them an out, but I needed to know that if they couldn't follow through to at least let me know so I could go somewhere else to get the work done, but unfortunately there was no communication at all from their end! Oh well. Obviously had a busy enough summer to have other things distract them! I have contacted them, and with a couple of them I've let them know that I was a bit disappointed. I really didn't want to overload people who've had too much on their plate, but they did both advertise and accept to do custom work. What were the odds that all of them couldn't pan out?!? I wouldn't have thought twice about it if it were just one or two... but all of them! I'll keep that in mind! Thanks! Maybe when next spring/summer rolls around I'll look into it... hopefully place an order for something early enough in the year so that it doesn't interfere with other projects.
That is strange that everyone flaked on the customs. Just out of curiosity what were you asking them to make?
several tops and one skirt - all sewn stuff. I'm not much of a sewer, but I love the craftsmanship that goes into hand-sewn and custom-sewn clothes.... which was why I was looking for some for the summer.
3 years ago I did a swap with a fellow forumer. I sent her a hat and some leg warmers within a week... still waiting for my skirt.
