its was sweltering this weekend, and i wanted mittens and a toque last weekend. mother nature, im FONCUSED!
i used to really love walking everywhere. i was annoyed when my parents pushed me to get a driver's license and a car. i had a bike, i had feet. so far as i was concerned they just wanted me to get a car so that i could run errands for them, and i was right. now i'm addicted and can't function without a vehicle...DAMN THE PUSHERS!!! I'M A VICTIM-ADDICT!!!
I NEED AN INTERVENTION!! no, not really. $20 of gas lasts me over a month. everything is pretty handy, and the girls love to walk. i just don't know how to deal with public transport, and frankly am offended that there's not a train for the urban corridor here.
I walk alone alot, but there are cops everywhere in the downtown district. I would have never walked alone at night near my cabin, because there were bears and wolves around every night.
I walk alone to and from work every day. I walk with my dog around my area. Sometimes it's nice to just have yourself for company. I find that when I walk with other people it usually ends up being a silent walk anyway. Ranga.
if there are other people arround then you are not alone. it is the other people to be scared of. not inanimate objects or nonhuman living creatures. the latter, if given half a chance, will do everything they can to stay out of your way. which is what living in nature teaches them. and would teach us if we weren't quite as isolated from it. =^^= .../\...
What's the longest any one has alked in a day? I once walked with a full pack from Bangalore to Byron Bay in Austrailia, just to see if it was fun. It was about 35kms or 22 miles, if I remember correctly.
it would be interesting to put on a pedometer when you wake up and see how much ground you actually cover during a typical day. the greatest distance i've covered in a single walk though has probably been no more than 7 or 8 miles
