I know we should be open to religions, But christianity destroyed the world, and fucked humanity to the point of no return. Christian veiws brougth 2 (or more) holocausts, caused great confusion among the cultures its destroyed, and turned people into villiage pillaging, pagan murdering, intolerant, self centered pricks, and gave teh already self centered pricks and excuse to take whatever land, kill whatever person, and destroy whatever culture. And why Is the ancient Greek-Roman religion and other religions considered myth when it was around with Hinduism, Judaism, and so much other religions that are prominent today?
people did all of that, man. ideas carry only as much power as the people that weild them. the masses dropped the ancient greek and roman ideas, so they aren't as prevalent today. you have the power to decide what sort of ideas you're going to carry and infect the world with. no point in blaming the ideas. the state of affairs today and tomorrow is all of our responsiblity.
All fundamental religious persons in general have played their parts in destroying the world. Sure, Christianity has ruined America, but no more or less than Islam has ruined the middle east. In either case (and in other cases), it's just a matter of excusing unethical behavior with some transphenomenal being who supposedly directs persons to act in a particular, often violent way.
christianity, islam, all forms of chuvanism, economic and idiological as well, and the fanatacisms they lead to, are indeed a threat to the future of the human species, and quite possibly by way of the very web of life. nor would we be any worse off, had the idea that any sort of hierarchy is inhierently bennificent never been invented. as for what is considered what, i and many others, do not consider one belief any more or less myth then any other. perhapse what is being objected to is the biased ways in which ancient and forign beliefs are presented by a flawed and itself biased educational system. and in america, and much of the 'english' speaking world, 'christianity IS one that is excessively and inappropriately favored. i don't know if scapegoating it though, would be any different nor better then was hitler's scapegoating of judaism. (among, and least we forget, several other things.) i would like to see an end to this mind boglingly self deceptive bias. it is one of the hard lessons of this world though, that anything that scapegoats anything, has a good chance of having some sneaky alterior motivation for doing so up its sleve. just like the midevil witch hunts were about robbing land, and hitler's holocaust, about robbing the economic return of industry and innovation. =^^= .../\...

All religions can do that, remember when the ancient Roman religions were still mainstream and Christianity was a cult they were the ones being killed, and it's been a vicious cycle through all of civilization. Religion isn't bad, the people who pervert them are.

All religions have endured their time upon the whipping post. Religions are a poor attempt to explain personal divinity to the masses. It can't be done. Because divinity can only be experienced. The call of the mystic will resonate only with those who are ready. To everyone else, it will be gibberish. x
