One day I was searching paganism on the internet and I found this site http://www.religion-cults.com/occult.htm it goes on about how wiccans and witches or anyone who practices any type of magic are "evil doers" and worship satan and all evil that he does. it also says the only difference between wicca and satanism is that satanisms do their rituals in temples and wiccans have covens. I was just wondering if any of the stuff on this site is true or not. It sounds like bs but i wouldnt want to get into anything like satanism. (btw I want become some type of pagan and druidism has really caught my eye so im trying to find out everything I can :))

Yup ... it's either accept Jesus into your heart, or resign yourself to being Satan's whore. Apparently there's no 'other' option.

Seriously the net is full of this kind of misinformation; it's either the result of bein genuinely illinformed, or a deliberate campaign to discredit anything that doesn't suit their worldview (a lot of the sites have some affiliation with right wing christianity), maybe even a bit of both.
Anyway you learn to tune it out.

As it is Satan has no place within Wicca. The Pagan Gods are not personified as being 'absolute good', so it would be illogical for there to be a personification of 'absolute evil'. Instead good/evil exists in balance within everything, so again no outside forces pulling the strings.

Wicca and Satanism seem pretty much totally opposite ends of the spectrum of Paganism. Neither are my thing; but I respect those who practise, and try to keep myself informed.

    Hope that helps :)
    Druidry interests me too.

I have never met a witch who worshiped the devil, but i have met a few witches who had devilish personalities.

no, like people have said, they're not linked, the devil is a christian concept. Druidry has no gods, it is more about the earth and storytelling, and the practices they do.

You forgot Barney, man! That purple dinosaur's been sending subliminal satanic messages to kids via its songs! Try backmasking this song: "I love you/ you love me/ we're as happy as can be / with a great big hug and a kiss from me to you/ won't you say you love me too" You won't like what you hear when it's playing backwards. Better douse yourself in holy water first before you listen.

christers and moslems have been flogging this dead horse almost as long as there have been either of them. (usually as an excuse to steal land or simply commit mass murder for the hell of it, which is to say, to further their political agendas)

the concept of a devil was invented by western montheism. oh sure, some other beleifs have powerful spirits they consider naughty some of the time, but no such thing as a god of pure evil belongs to anything predating western monotheism.

to put it quite simply, no one else ever heard of such a thing, nor felt a need for one.

so to say that anyone who doesn't kiss the ass of tyrannical monotheistic hierarchy is worshipping some sort of a devil, or christerism's "THE DEVIL" is purely their own demonizing propiganda from beggining to end. and not a damd thing else and never has been.

not that no one else has ever done anything naughty. just that western monotheism is not, and has never, except dureing it's very earliest days when its own revolations were exotic minority cults, been any less so then any other, and or pre-existing, beliefs. if anything, often quite a considerable bit more, at least in the context of scale.

just the old 'different is bad' as an excuse to try and force everyone to be the (more readily controlable) same.

Man... this question is one that is such a pain in the ass. I don't go up to Christians and be like.... "eeeew, you worship peanut butter!" People need to be a little more educated and quit pointing fingers because they have fingers that point. Christians (especially!) do not take the time to open their eyes and hearts. They can't say what is right and wrong because they have no experience of anything else!

But to the original poster, Wiccans have no affiliation with the "devil" what so ever. Most Wiccans don't even believe in a purely good spirit might less a purely evil one. And even if they did, I doubt they would be like "oh hey... that's cool let's worship it!" That's so dumb.

By the way, I hope none of this offends, it's an honest to god observation that I've made that has nothing to do with the intelligence or intentions of the poster!
(haha... I should add that to my signature!)

I just LOL'd so hard I almost fell out of my chair!

It sounds like the people who put up that site are just a bunch of fundie scaremongers, doing what they usually do: misrepresent and give misinformation about other religious practices. And it's usually along the lines of "You're either with God or against God, and if you're against God you automatically must be in league with -- ohnoes! -- the debbil!"

I honestly wish these people would leave me alone, man, and being in a wheelchair doesn't help. It's like, they see disability and think "easy mark", like I'm somehow more likely to be gulled into believing their crap. And yes, this does piss me off, if you couldn't tell.

Anyway, as with all information, especially on the interwebs, take their site with a grain of salt... a LARGE grain of salt. They may have an ulterior motive in their representation of magickal practices and "alternative" religions.

    Peace and Blessed Be

what a nice steaming pile of shit that article is...

It's sad, there are so many of these people out there who believe that non Christians are all Devil worshipers. That is of course BALLOCKS!

There is no Satan in Wicca! And I wish we could tell the rest of the world that.

Churches are at fault for this. Witchcraft/shamanism/etc and the like were true science and study of the universe, and catholicism, etc always took issue with expanding the mind and flexing intellect.
Hell, a microscope would get you killed once upon a time.
So basically anything that empowered people or helped them learn and understand the universe was the enemy of ignorance and was considered evil and all that. Hence witchcraft, paganism, and other scary words being 'evil'.
That really set mankind back a lot.
Instead of learning how to live in the universe and feel it, know it, we study it from afar and indirectly.

I met a satanist once. he was very nice, and shy, and came to a unitarian service when i was in boot camp. I think he was afraid we'd freak out, but no one did, and I just wished I could have asked him about his specific beliefs.

I do not believe in "pure evil" and so I do not believe in satan. "Pagan" is a broad term like "Christian" so you don't have to believe in satan if you don't want to. and if it sounds like BS, it probably is.
