I did further reasurch in the USA's national weather somthing assotioation. The new solar cycle will peak in 2011-2012. Causing magnetic storms, that at the worst could render most electronics, like satelites and power lines useless for a couple month period. That sounds very comforting compared to the theory of our magnetic poles switching.
read the first chapter of the book "electric universe" (i forget the author's name) to see what will happen if a big city (he uses london as an example) is out of power for a day, then week, then a month....it is terrifying. losing our electrickery is no longer just a case of oh well let's light a candle and use the gas stove... and we would not be able to talk to each other like this...my god, are we all ready to go back to face to face conversation with our immediate family/housemates/the dog? aaaarrrrhhh
I think the world will still be here in 2012. There are realignments in the universe all the time. According to global warming bandwagon, the earth will be unlivable by 2012.
Just a thought for those of you who believe in the bible or biblical prophecies...... I dont rememeber exactly where this is from, but Jesus is talking to his followers who thought the end times were coming upon them and he told them to not worry about those things and not to quit their jobs because the time is uncertain. ....Maybe when we are months away from dec 12 2012 and everyone thinks the world is doomed because we see that what the Mayans foretold will actually come true, that God was trying to tell us that it could be years later because the calendars got off thousands of years ago. I hope that made sense.
perhaps it marks a new beginning for what humanity is left after avian flu and perhaps even nuclear war.or maybe the magnetic shift. i heard the Earth Sun and center of the milky way galaxy allign. Every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end
pinning anything on some arbitrary date makes little if any real sense. there will come a time when there are no longer automobiles or guns. we will have gotten rid either of them or of ourselves. it is still a roll of the dice at this point as to which. the sane choice, is, i hope, fairly clear and obvious. (i would also like for it to be choosen, but perhaps that's just me.) and it isn't tecnology in general that there's anything worng with, but what human coerciveness makes it so. wind, solar, micro-hydro, little trains, little houses, little computers, are a future that can be. big everything and trying to impress each other is collective suicide. (whatever year anything does or does not happen) =^^= .../\...
I think that we should leave the worrying to the other 7 billion people who won't be around on December 31st or whatever, 2012.
my biggest issue, is that o.k we have this knowledge. now what? Shouldn't, us the aware ones be preparing for this new age? I believe its going to get worse, intensely worse in fact before the proshesised 'enlighted' period. Should we not now be making those material sacrifices? comming together, maybe forming techno-environ self-sufficient communities? I'm not talking about hippy communes but communities of the future. I'm really dissatisfied with the inactivness of people with knowledge
But that sounds like a lot of work! lol we're so fucking doomed You start building one and I'll join in. i'm not a leader. But if I'm not mistaken I think FEMA is already hard at work building these "communities".
