hi my name is sam, im not really a hippie but i like your music and artwork, i am doing a sociology project on subculture and the changes over time and i wanted to know if any of you can help me? i just wanted to know what the modern day hippie is like... dress sence and music and so on.. if anyone could help me i would be really grateful thanks samxxxx
hello samuel, i don't think the hippies today are very different than the hippies of the 60's, except for how they use their time instead of protesting and all the good concerts etc etc... i think most hippies would agree that its a state of mind, and you may know a hippy and not even recognize them. so the dress sence is not very vital to hip life, nor is the music. but both, like a lot of things vary from person to person, people rarely like ALL of the same things, so it depends who you ask. but bands that still play, i would say some of the popular ones with "us" that still get good followings would be the dead(whats left of the grateful dead), the dark star orchestra(a grateful dead cover band), phish until their recent breakup, widespread panic, and the string cheese incident, those are some of the more popular ones.
