    Hey,

I haven't done very much yoga. I've done a few sessions here and there. I'm kind of more into martial arts, and I like the really hard yoga positions. Any suggestions for what type of yoga I could start with? I've got large strength relative to my body weight, so I really like a challenge.

PS I really don't know much at all about Yoga, so keep that in mind with suggestions.

You must first question your motive for wanting to understand yoga.

In the west, the emphasis is on physical health. The true origins of yoga are of a spiritual nature.

You may first enter into one of the forms of yoga that is physical in nature. It will teach you discipline. With discipline, you can advance beyond the physical aspects of yoga altogether. Yoga is both a physical, mental, and spiritual sustainer.

It can be something that you do as a part of your daily routine or it can become a way of life. The path is natural. You will know what to do as it comes to you. There is no shortage of information about yoga online. Shop around. Something will call your name.

I started with Kripalu yoga, which is basically Hatha yoga but with more emphasizes on the meditative mind. Some of the poses are very physically challanging. Hatha yoga is the basic yoga, what they teach at the YMCA for example. It's something that is very physical, so you might want to start with that if your more interested in the physical rather then the spiritual. But yoga is more spiritual then physical and you gain more benefits from it if you realize this.
