Mahat McGhandi?

I'm going to show my ignorance here. My wife was doing some research and asked me who Mahat McGhandi is/was and I did not know the answer. From what I saw on the internet it appeared that this person had something to do with civil rights of some sort. Does anyone out there know who this is?

that boggled my mind for s bit there, just a note on ghandi when he visited britain he was asked by a reporter what he thought about western civilisation his response was "i think it would be a good idea" its a pity more people didn't pay attention

but he is not as good as said in history i believe .He acted selfish in lot of aspects and according to me and what i had heard his end is correct.
