Take a moment of silence today, but lets never forget what happened three years ago. All our lives have been changed since that day. May those who were lost live on forever in our memory and remorse....

It would be so much easier to respect this tragedy if it wasn't exploited so often.

amen, i get so cynical and defensive anytime anyone metnions anything about respecting the dead, as they've already been exploited so much for others gains.

The same goes for the osama (the one on these boards, not Bin Laden) types. It's great to see morons trying to turn a thread like this into a political argument. Don't we have enough of those already?

Honestly, I don't intend to sound heartless, but that was 3 years ago.

    3 years.

And in those 3 years, 14,000 people were shot to death each year. hundreds of thousans died in car accidents. 1,000 american soldiers died.

People keep saying "We must never forget".. I assure you, as soon as it loses it's whorability, it'll become a distant memory. "Our lives have changed so much since then" no, damnit, you think your lives have changed since then. In all likelihood, your life is probably about the same as it was 3 years ago. In truth, other than a new found source of irrational fear that the government can control you with(it was hard for them after they lost the Russians), it's business as usual. The politics really haven't even changed. Lies? Government being run for the benefit of the rich? Sounds like it has always been.

The more things change, the more they stay the same. It was probably about the same after Pearl Harbor. I bet they held memorials years after it. And now... can you even remember the date? It was the same after Columbine, on a smaller scale. Everyone said, "never forget", and that our lives had "changed forever."

Life is for the living. If we went around mourning everyday that a large amount of people died, it'd be a year round funeral. Let the dead rest, for god's sake.

And lastly, there is nothing to be afraid of. I remember people thinking that their office building/school/house/car/dog/cat/mobile home/bicycle/whatever was going to bombed by terrorists. "Officials Worry that terrorists may try to use a dirty bomb," "Officials worry that terrorists may try to crash an airplane into this nuclear power plant." For God's Fucking Sake, IT HAS BEEN 3 YEARS SINCE THE WTC. And how many attacks since then? Zero? Zero? Yep, Zero. none. None at fucking all. I say, let's forget 9/11 asap so we, the LIVING can go back to LIVING.

    PS: tragedys/fear whored:
    September 11th
The Y2k bug.(remeber that? remember idiots going out and buying supplies and building bomb shelters in their back yards? Sound familiar? "Buy duct tape! And gas masks!")
    Columbine
    Russians
The list stretches to oblivion. I think I've made my point.

PSPS: Look at the quote in my signature. It's bizarrely fitting.
