What has watching violence done to you? What has watching nude scenes done to you? What has watching sex scenes done to you? What has hearing what society calls "bad words" done to you? If nothing is the answer to all that then dont you think it's time for television and radio to stop censoring things for no good reason?
I do have a temper sometimes and i dont think scenes of violence have helped in this matter. I cant stand unnecessary scenes of violence Absolutely nothing. The human body is the human body, with clothes on or with clothes off. What is it supposed to do to me, mess up my head!? I dont realy watch "sex scenes", not in the way of porn or anything, anyway. I have no desire to and it seems fake and nowehere near my ideal of love making. I watched "sex scenes" on television as a child, because my mother let me do so...but i just used to think "these people are weird- why is that pleasurable?" (they were usually about strange fetishes etc) It didnt harm me Nothing. I just dont think they should be used without good reason and all over the place like they are nowadays, theres no need If nothing is the answer to all that then dont you think it's time for television and radio to stop censoring things for no good reason?[/QUOTE] So yes and no. Nudity i see no problem with. Sex is difficult because it depends what you want your children growing up to believe in and how they should see sex, but if its just people having sex with no strangeness then yes, theres no problem at all i can see. Swear words should NOT be scattered all over the place as this is a form of violence and ugliness, but every now and then when appropriate i see no problem. And violence is a no for me, except in films with an appropriate age certificate
i wish i could tell you but i dont know what i would be like considering i havent lived my life without those things.
This reminds me, when the movie "Titanic" came out on video, there was an editted version that parents could buy that cut out the sex and nudity scenes. And alot of parents were complaining that that was ridiculous. They would rather have thier child see two people making love than seeing a man hit his spouse or a man kill himself or people drowning. And I agree with that. I would rather my child (if I had one) see two people who loved each other interacting than the violence. There were a few inaappropriate movies I watched as a child that warped me. One was Stephen King's "It". That movie has given me a clown phobia... sad, but true.
I never liked violence and I still hate watching it. I'm really sensitive to it. I don't really remember seeing anything violent as a kid though. Nude scenes haven't really affected me any way, I think the human body is beautiful. Watching sex scenes made me uncomfortable as a kid, like anyone else. Sex is goood and a part of life though. I censor my language in certain situations and around certain people but I think words are just words... for the most part. Unless they are directly offending someone like calling someone something nasty. I think its important to censor violence. Its an ugly thing, and probably makes some people more immune to it. I don't like that violence is everywhere and in video games honestly, I honestly think its not good for kids at all. As for sex and nudity, I think its okay because that is most likely gonna be part of your life, and hopefully violence won't be.
well, psychology wise...when people see many violent acts commited they tend to act more violently themselves...it's kind of like conditioning
