People give up... I don't know why! Giving up is definite to solve nothing. Doing something has a chance. I'm not giving up so don't worry, there are still some of us!
I dont know if people give up, it seems like they dont try. I wonder if they have a false sense of the world?
I think a lot of people just don't care. Or maybe they don't see anything that needs to be changed. Or else they feel like they don't have the power to do anything, "so why bother?" There are still a lot of people who care, though. You just have to find them, and don't forget to be one of them, too!
Ive been thinking that people just follow the system and do not understand that life is how we make it. We don't need wars and injustices. People are not the free thinkers they used to be. Sheeple.
everyone is distracted. but even when we did stand up half of the people pretended to stand up and onyl a few really did anything (concerts don't stop wars.)
It can be overwhelming to think about actually changing anything when you know people have been set in their ways for so long, but at the same time it is infuriating that you can see something is obviously awry and needs to be changed and others are either afraid of change or don't want to deal with it... *looks up* Holy run-on sentence, Batman!
Because we have high speed internet, wide screen tv's, giant suv's, mcmansions and other neat stuff to keep us occupied.
I believe that people get caught in the rut of just living and forget that there is a world out there. Go to work, go home eat dinner, watch survivor, tuck the kids in, go to bed, start over. Those of us that do care become frustrated and find it easier to join the pack than to lead into a new direction. Don't give up hope though, there are still a few people that care and we can create a change in our own corner of the world that will create a ripple effect. :jester: Remember the bible story about Sodom? the city would have been spared for 3 righteous people. (not preaching, not religious, just a story that fits here)
Here its very still since the 70 's, there is a tv series on tv here about the 70's with protests and people fighting for their rights, i wish it could be like that these days, or invent some kind of time machine so i could travel back in time
people do stand up it just doesn't get covered in the conventional media, for example there has been a constant protest camp at the gates of tha faslane navel base (nucular weapons) in scotland for the last 10 years, there have always been people every day of the year for the last decade protesting there. there is one man who has slept in a tent outside the houses of parliament in the uk since beofre the invasion of iraq protesting the war and hasnt left one day. how can you say people dont stand up for anything anymore?
Nate's right there are people standing up for their individual rights, it's just that when the media is owned by the same people that are trying to force their dogma on the world, many never hear of it. And there's the premise that if they say there is no resistance often enough people will believe it, you do. And you wouldn't want to be part of a minority would you? It's easier to wave a flag and become part of the grand movement of the majority.
Because we get beaten up by cops, thats why! Because we get laughed at, shoved down, our lives get ruined Surely good enough reasons for some to keep quiet
Not to mention that the media keeps force-feeding us crap about Lindsey Lohan or Paris Hilton or O.J. so we don't hear the real news about what's going on in the world. Turn off your TV, Tune into the world.
NO! for god sake thats the exact reasons not to keep quite! you think if everyone who was evertreated harsh remaind silent then we would be the society we are now? slavery, womens rights, gay rights they had it easy when they stood up against there opressors
We all should stand up for anything that bother's our minds people in government have no right to tell us what to do
The reason for people not standing up is not enough self empowerment and the control imposed on us by "society", sure, everyone in this world comes up with some pretty tight ideas; however, how many of us go on and make them a reality? not many, rather we give up as soon as the first signs of hard work are noticed and we allow lazyness to kick in and control every single one of our experieces and finally our lives. It sounds fucked up, nevertheless this is an unacceptable part of our human nature; reality for most and until we become capable of controlling our minds fully, others will happily do 'The job' for us (How about Hitler for an example?)
Thats easy to SAY. Not so easy to DO after youve been BEATEN by cops and your LIFE has been ruined. And believe me ive given the slavery speech a thousand times myself Im not saying that people SHOULD back down. I was just saying thats the reason many people do
oh believe me i've been on the recieving end of many a beating while taking part in demonstrations, its easy to quit and everyone wants an easy life but the point im trying to make is sooner or later taking the easy route and saying nothing will cause you more pain than standing up and getting knocked down a few times
