    Hello everyone!

I'll be moving to Melbourne in January. Anyone living in Melbourne? Anything you can tell me about Melbourne would be appreciated! :)

    Thanks.

I was in Melbourne nearly 2 years ago and I found it to be a great city. It's classed as a big city but it's not too big, so you can find your way around very easily. When you're in the centre most things are within walking distance but if you need to take public transport they have busses and trams.

The shopping is good. They have a zoo and Botanical Gardens and it's a very clean and spacious city. They have some great restaurants too - plenty of sushi restaurants (if you like that) and if you like Italian go to Lygon Street in Little Italy.

From what I was reading Melbourne has been voted the world's most liveable city for 2004!

Melbourne is a great city. I lived there until I was 19. However I have to disagree about the cleanliness. If you want to see a clean city, go to Adelaide. Melbourne has rubbish everywhere. But Melb does have an awesome nightlife, especially if you like alcohol. Good variety of trendy / grungy places (but definitely more on the trendy side).

The public transport in Melbourne sucks, it's a lot better now but they still can't get the trains to run on time. And they charge you a fortune for tickets - more than 3 times what it costs in Adelaide. If it sounds like I'm promoting Adelaide, well I am. It's like Melbourne (grassy, open) but smaller and with better weather ;)

Up Until 2 Weeks Ago I Was Travelling To Melbourne Every 3 Months, Then Came Back Here For 3 Months And Went To Melb Again! I Work Now, So I Cant Go All The Time!!! I LOVE Melbourne, It Is A Nice Place, I Love The Public Transport, There Is So Much Transport You Dont Really Need A Car Unless You Are About 30km Out Of The City... Melbourne People In General Seem Pretty Cool, There Is So Much To Do, So Many Places That You Can Just Keep Visiting, It Never Gets Boring! The Only Thing That Puts Me Off Is The Old Asians, They Spit Everywhere, Even When Your Right Beside Em, They Hock It Back And Spit Right In Front Of You, Its Sick!!!! But I Still Love Melbourne, Hopefully Moving There Early Next Year!!!

    Belle,

Your personal opinions on Melbourne will depend on where you live and what you're used to but I'm sure the threads will help and I'm glad you liked my link! :)

Hi April: True. It really depends on what I make the place to be, doesn't it? :)

I forgot to tell you guys that I spent three weeks in Melbourne (May-June 2004). That was when I decided that I wanted to live in Melbourne.

I traveled extensively, and I can tell the difference between what place is great to visit and what place is great to live in. (Las Vegas is a GREAT place to visit, but I ain't gon' live there! Haha).

I can't wait to get to Melbourne! :)
