There's a boy in my class, who is a real dickhead :l every little thing he says is either a racist comment, or something mean about gay people. And people DO get offended, because my class is pretty multi cultural, but no one ever stops him. He's australian himself. And today we had textiles and he was sketching something that he was going to draw on his bag. And i was waiting for the teacher, so i looked over and it the yin yang symbol. And i asked if that was actually what he was doing, because he's not the type of person that's into that kinda stuff. All his friends were standing around aswell, and the teacher had moved away, and he said something like "yeh, and I'm gonna put a sword through it" and I frowned and said "that's pretty stupid :l why would you do that?" And I probably shouldn't have asked because he said "Because the black is all the black people in the world, and I'm putting a sword through them" and him and his friends started laughing. I got really upset over that, and started telling him off, I can't really remember exactly what I said but it was something like "Are you trying to be funny? Because you're not. Racism ISN'T FUNNY. You offend SO many people in this class, and no one tells you to stop, but I've had enough. You are so mean, and you think that by saying that stuff you're cool?" but it was a lot longer, I went on for quite a while. About a third of the way through the whole class went quiet, but I kept going. He just pretended he couldn't hear me, smiling and drawing the sword. He says stupid stuff like that ALL the time. This was the first time I've had a chance to actually tell him off for it though. So then the teacher came over, hearing me talking angrily to him, and started asking if something was wrong. I said that it was fine, he had just made a stupid comment, and I thought itwas really offensive and was sick of his stupid jokes. And she started making a big deal out of it, saying that I would have to stay back after class with him and we'd have to sort it out :l I thought that him and all his friends would now be calling me a bitch, because it was my fault, but surprisingly one of them asked me if I was alright. And when I mumbled yes he joked that afterwards he would punch him for me So i stayed back afterwards and she told me that I had to write down on paper exactly what he said. I was like ahhhhh crap, he's gonna get in a shitload of trouble now :l so i explained that the comment wasn't actually AT ME, and that it was just a stupid joke and that he understood that it wasn't funny, just offensive and mean. But she still made me write it, noting that she understood i didn't feel comfortable dobbing him in. I wrote pretty much what happened, but I toned it down a little bit. I felt bad with him getting in too much trouble, because he didn't actually mean to offend me, he's just an idiot But she then took that letter to the coordinator and now he's suspended :l I'm not sure for how long. I hope this will teach him...if it doesn't, then what will? I still feel a bit bad even though all my friends are telling me that I didn't do anything wrong and that it was just his fault for saying stuff like that, and I know all of that... but I still feel a bit bad should I? Grrr, sorry for that rant :S I tend to ramble at times HAPPY PEACE DAY FOR TOMORROW BTW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! peace and love Jane
That's quite long indeed I think both you and your teacher did a good job though. Some people need a thing like suspension first to understand how wrong they are acting.
You did good thing when you started yelling at him. Becose of those kind of people so many innocent people have died and suffered. And guess he's got some issues that need solving. You did great deed that we all should do. Except that teachers may ruin that boys life
Well, don't know if people died because of people like him. Lots of (especially adolescent) people like to act funny with racism and gay topics, but in the end they wouldn't necessarily hurt one. I see lots of people like that here in the Netherlands as well.
Awww, don't be upset, Jane! Trust me, you did NOTHING wrong. The teacher approached you, and not the other way around. Even if she didn't, I still would have told her about it. People need to realize what they are during is hurting other people. What he said was very cruel, and there was no reason for it. From your explanation, I see he has acted this way multiple times. Hopefully, he will learn from this that his "jokes" and other comments are not appreciated. I can only wish that he one day matures and stops making such remarks.
It's refreshing to hear that a young person like you,did the right thing. If more people would stand up like you did, changes would be made.
By the sounds of things that guy deserved everything he got! There are kids like that I my school, I wish I had the courage to stand up to them. Have a wonderful peace day tomorrow beautiful! Peace, love and hugs brothers and sisters! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
I'm glad you said something to the guy, and that your teacher actually did something about it. You may feel bad about getting him in trouble, but at least now, maybe he'll realize that racism is a serious issue and that all of his words and actions have consequences. People at my school in ninth grade used to make racist jokes/comments and use the "n" word; when I told them that it was offensive, they just laughed and did it more. And of course, the school didn't do anything about it. So you should be proud of yourself and your teacher.
W-HA? ZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzz..... That was a LITTLE LONG dear. I prefer to NOT hear about all the assholes in the world, and just forget about them. Right now, I can tell you I am ACTUALLY laughing inside. It was GREAT he got suspended, the little S.O.B. deserved it! So don't feel bad. Don't let people piss you off so easily babe. And if they do, it's all okay. Remember, everyone on hipforums LOVES YOU!!!! And we're always here to CHEER YOU UP if jerks at school piss you off.
thankyou guys that really did make me feel better I really hope he stops after this, because I feel so bad when I can actually see how upset kids are in the class, but they are too scared to say anything someone had to thankyou thankyou thankyou you're all so nice and sweet I love you s2 and btw HAPPY PEACE DAY! hope you have a peaceful, lovely, beautiful, amazing day peace and love Jane
to make a long story short... NO. he sounds like a dickwad and should be treated as such. anyone who spouts hate like that for laughs needs some serious mental help. no matter if it is for laughs...grr, i hate racist scumbags. they are so disappointing and spend their whole life hating when they could spend it loving...it's not right. i know that you're supposed to love your brothers and sisters, but when they decide to be dickwads and cumguzzlers, i tend to say fuck them and goodnight. =] so how is everyone else doing?
Don't worry Jane, you did the right thing. I'm not saying he's evil - probably just insensitive/indifferent to the suffering caused by racial discrimination - but sometimes people need a really loud wake-up call. He needed to know that it's NOT okay to joke around like that. Otherwise, he'd still assume that it is and continue doing so. I remember my sister scolding her son for teasing his jewish classmate for being a jew and joking about giving the poor kid a swastika as a gift. I rarely ever see my sister as angry as she was that day. But it wasn't because my nephew was a neo-nazi, it was because for him it was all a big joke. He did not understand (although he knew, but there is a difference between knowledge and true understanding) the suffering of the jews at the hands of the nazis, nor did he understand how cruel his humor can be. Children can be very cruel even though they're innocent for the most part.
I personally think that racism is hilarious as long as it's all in good humor. This country is idiotically politically correct. People need to get over themselves and stop getting offended, especially by the babblings of some 14 year old kid. You have no right to limit his free speech just because you cannot handle what he's saying. Free speech is one of the most beautiful things in America. I will support everyone's right to it, even if they spill out the most idiotic comments in the world... it's their right.
