My friends and I went to Bonnaroo this year, in Manchester, Tennessee. That was wild. 5 days of camping in an open field and over 100+ bands. I saw Tool and The Police at the same festival, crazy huh? Well I am interested in more festivals, there's this one I think called the High Sierra Mountains festival in Northern California, but I need to do more research. Curious about very scenic locations, and camping is also sweet. Any information is greatly appreciated :)

    Thanks.

If you want to see who Ashley Capps is going to try and book for Bonnaroo all you have to do is see who coachella booked the previous year, but coachella sort of leaves out the southern flavor. Langerado is another good one. It's in Hollywood Florida, it's a lot smaller, You have to pay for your lodging, but it's a stonesthrow from the beach

Theres a few big ones in Florida (like mentioned) and also all along the east and west coasts really. JamBase.com is a good place to find info (they have a festival guide tab around their homepage somewhere). You got plenty of time to do some homework as the festival season doesnt generally start until may or june, (in most cases). But RE:Generation fest in North Carolina is supposedly gorgeous as anything, if scenery is what you are into. but its a small little fest with lots of STS9 and similar acts. Not Tool or Police esque at all. High Sierra (Quincy, CA) or 10 thousand Lakes Fest (Detroit Lakes, MN) are other bigger festivals. Both would be good. Wakarusa (Lawrence Kansas) is a good choice. Ive been every year to that one and have nothing but good things to say when i return every time.

Bonnaroo is kind of a one of a kind festival because the people that play there are so mainstream, most of those acts are considered "headliners" at most fests. Tool, Police, STS9, String Cheese, Keller, Galactic, etc etc etc are all pretty big name bands in my eyes. Any fest they would play at would usually have some pretty serious festivalgoers. You dont get the kind of audience and fanbase bonnaroo brings to most festivals because of the artists that play there. But that doesnt neccessarily mean the music is any better or worse, its important to understand that. Some of the best shows in the country (in my eyes atleast) dont even play Bonnaroo.

If you are looking for a smaller festival where you can get around and enjoy all the bands and art and scenery, Look into Camp Barefoot, named one of the top grass-roots festivals on the east coast. It is held at the Grove Camp Ground, which is on 3000 acres in Gore, VA nestled in the moutains and consist of many hiking and atv trails and at least 2 lakes that I can remember. There are volley ball courts and you can even rent floating log cabins. And this is the only festival I have ever heard that has HOT SHOWERS!!!!

This year we had the likes of Garaj Mahal, Barefoot Manner, The Breakfast, RAQ, The Bridge, DJ Williams Projekt, Your Momma's Big Fat Booty Band, Brother's Past, Modern Groove Syndacite, Umelt, The Itals, and many more.

For more info go to www.campbarefoot.org

bonnaroo had hot showers, but the water smelled like sewage and who wants a hot shower in the inescapable 100 degree heat.
