    Several months ago an article was posted here stating that a tourist took some shrooms and jumped off a bridge to his death. This made the Dutch Health Minister Ab Klink order a special study into the effects of magic mushrooms so that he can make his and the government's ban (which most of the authorities are, being apart of the theocratic CDA) legit. So are they still considering the shrooms ban or are shrooms safe now from prohibition?? Any news from that special study on the effects of shrooms?

    Here was the original article;

    This is what I found relating to the Dutch prohibition/regulation;

    http://afp.google.com/article/ALeqM5hZ8I56uzGRBmZ8usOGDpiCqtB_MA

    That was from 4 days ago........I have to say that the proposal, while being better than outright prohibition, is retarded. Just because of one death they have to go crazy over this? How many thousands of people die from alcohol and tobacco in the country. Heck I bet there are a dozen of caffeine overdoses in their country, while there has never been a shrooms overdose. And the amount of accidental death from shrooms to say the least is still lower than the amount of caffeine overdoses in a single country!

    Are these politicians so dumb not to see this contradiction?

    I just e-mailed the mayor of Amsterdam Job Cohen on how illogical the idea is. You can do the same......to contact him go here;

    http://www.amsterdam.nl/gemeente/college/burgemeester_cohen/mail_aan_de?Sbj=Gemeente:%20Burgemeester%20Cohen

    Don't be stupid or insulting when making this message.......be respectful and sound logical. I brought up how illogical it was in my message since alcohol and tobacco (and caffeine) don't have such regulations.

    I heard that the dude jumped off a balcony, but whatever. I live in America so im not 100% sure but I thought they had already made up they're mind and it was made illegal, maybe not, (I think it was made illegal, but maybe that was the UK im thinking about...)

    I believe it is horribly stupid proposal solely to the fact they proposed the ban in the first place. They have been on the fence for years about banning them and this is their perfect chance. This has only been 1 recorded shroom related death, look at alcohol, kills everyday yet they sweep it under the carpet and forget about it.

    I hate politicians...

    I heard something on the news about that... It seems like the legalization of magic mushrooms is still under serious question, but there has been no legal action taken as of right now... I would say that they will be banned in the future if any more small incidents with them arise. What a crying shame. :bs:

    I read the proposal and I think it's a good idea. It will prevent idiots from giving mushrooms a bad name.

    No it won't. No amount of state intervention will prevent anything.

    It's all very well saying that - woo yea, fuck the government, bring down the system, etc etc - but please read what you just posted again and ask yourself if you honestly believe it?

    If you want to see classic examples of exactly how well state intervention works, just look at MDMA and LSD. Besides which, it is also completely undeniable that a LEGAL hallucinogen (such as mushrooms in Amsterdam) will attract a FAR greater proportion of fuckheads than an illegal equivalent. After all, to you average Joe Idiot, legal = safe, so he can eat as many mushrooms as he likes with no thought of the consequences.

    Before you decided to call me idiot, you should at least research what you say. With that said, I don't think you understand human nature enough. I suggest you take some economics classes at your local college or something.

    How has state intervention helped with any drug prevention? Do you not realize that empircally speaking you are way off? Drug prohibition has increased drug use.......that's why in the US and Britain where drug laws are the worst in West, they have the biggest drug problems.

    BTW "idiot":rolleyes:, despite marijuana being less controlled to almost the point of legality in the NEtherlands, they have the least drug problems.

    Do some research before you run your mouth.

    In America alcohol is far more regulated than most other Western countries (eg. drinking age being 21, public intoxication laws, ect.), they still have the biggest binge drinking problem.
