Start jogging. Work you way up to 3-5 miles a day. You'll be money in no time. Pilates is good for you, but jogging will better help you achieve your goal.

I'm 5'10"....so technically my BMI is like 19 or 20. But I've still got a jiggly butt and a tummy, so thats what im worried about. My jean size is anywhere from 6 to 9, and I'd like to be 4 or 5. Maybe my expectations are unreasonable, i dont know.

I think I could do it, but I get HORRIBLE stitches in my sides when I jog, is there anything I can do to prevent those?

BMI of 20? Really? Well wow mine is 9, am i thinking of the same thing? How did you find out it, did you use that fancy machine where you hold it up and it supposedly goes around your body and sets the number, I think I'm thinking of the same thing and yeah 20 is not good.

    BMI is height/weight ratio

a female with 20 for BMI, thats considered good. lots of woman think they look they're best with a BMI between 17-22. so yea, its good. though, the BMI is not entirely correct.

you don't have a BMI of 9 either

I read somewhere that BMI below 17 is a qualification for anorexia, at least for women. So max, a woman with a BMI of 9 is...um...probably dead. Im not really shooting for the dead look, as chic as it might be. But yea BMI isnt a really accurate indicator of fat, a better measure is waist to hip ratio. My waist is 27 inches, my hips 35. That gives me a ratio of .77, which is a bit high. I'd like it to be .71, for women .72 and below is optimal, which means I have to lose 3 inches around my waist.

Fitzy, what are some good ways to lose weight besides jogging? Oh and do you know any ways I can strength train without weights? I'm trying to boost my metabolism a bit too.

Oh yeah, well I wasn't sure, it was body fat percentage, that is 9 for me.

So sorry, well like I said I wasn't sure, so, there ya go, know your body fat percentage? I think it's higher for women.

    optimal says who.
Those that say that have omitted the fact that women come in different shapes and they have caused more anguish than necessary. Because we're all different the waist to hip ratio is NOT a good indicator.
Hourglass tho the ideal is NOT as common as one would be lead to believe. You can be .77 and still be lean and healthy.
I think [thread=161843]the 4 most popular body shapes[/thread] thread (credit goes to kjhippielove88 who posted here also) will put you at ease, READ IT and do the math, you're fine.

Besides the hip/waist ratio is not everything, it's NO indicator of shapely legs, butt, bust, shoulders, etc. I've seen wasp-waisted women with flat asses so there. I have the same ratio as you but hell I've got fine legs and ass and I've seen many rectangular-shaped women with HAWT bods. I suggest you find your finer parts and focus on that. You're beautiful.

Pilates, (google for resources, I don't have the time) will shape your tummy, good for the back also.
For metabolism, I second fitzy's advice.

yes, woman have a higher BF% than men do...woman who drop there BF too low disrupt their hormone levels...

pilates is alright...some movements are great...some, are well, not so great with new research being done...you want to watch how your lower back is put into positions and the stress and shear forces your put on it. very problematic area - very easy to damage.

i posted exercises using your bodyweight. start with basic calisthenics and move on from there. pushups, jumping jacks, repeated jumps, squats, lunges, etc. don't worry about getting "bulky" - woman don't build muscle fast, wicked slower than men do. a man would be damn lucky to get even 1 lb of LBM gain a week - thats a man, whose busting his ass in teh gym and eating great. so don't worry about bulking up. and even with the LBM gain, you'll look smaller because its more dense than fat.

like i said in another post...perform circuits with minimal rest...perform interval training.

warm up before working out, dynamic stretching. you slowly build movements through a range of motion. and this will warm your bodies core temperature up, and get yoru CNS ready to exercise

join a sport team. i'm in rowing and i lost 10lbs over the summer. you just gotta stick to it and work at it. in my opinion sport teams are better than gyms cause your coach is there to motivate you. also, if you smoke weed, stop doing that cause munchies will put on a lot of weight.

You seriously want to lose 15 pounds? I'm not trying to be unkind in any way, but judging from your gallery photos you are already quite thin. Are you trying to get into modeling?

Work is an even better motivator. I went from 190 pounds to 167 in just over two months. That's what overtime will do to you.
