damnit, i just can't help it, i want to be a farmer. i know it might be a couple of years unitl i can find some land, people, and money, but i can't wait until i can get my hands in the earth, and grow my own food, and preserve all the wonerful vegetables, fruits and other magnificient plants of nature from the greedy hands of industrial agriculture.

im just dying to grow everything under the sun, all the beautiful colours, textures and designs of all the different crops

i know it might not be easy, but i know the labor is worth it

i just thought i'd share that

what do y'all enjoy about growing your own food

Geting my hands in the earth, well pretty much everything about it. You feel at one with the ground. Actually providing most of our veggies during the summer months just rocks and so does opening a home canned jar of pasta sauce or salsa in the middle of winter.

that's cool, man. whatever you're passionate about. i'm definitely not one to grow my own food, but i definitely respect old-school agricultural techniques and buying from the locals who utilize them!

    good luck dude

If you're interested in contributing to a community owned land purchase, i've been researching and working towards establishing a communal living tribe, group, family, whathave you. Core beliefs in preserving natural earth, i.e. organic farming, eco friendly lifestyles, wind/solar power, a place to live in peace, find your center, and ofcourse a community working as one to live happily in this twisted world. I think its great that you want to get back to nature, Please contact me on the forums or at colony1313@yahoo.com . We can change damage done to mother earth, only if we all are one and work together. I know there are more of us out there, waiting to make a diffrence.

    Peace to all,
    Ziggy

Things like this could happen more often if we organized into small self sufficient communes. If everyone wanted to live off the earth and produce for existance, then they could pool their money for the land, shen share out the labor. That is what I plan on doing.

i just had ta say i have been pondering on that idea alot recently... only my ideas gotten a bit more alternative, after all i wouldnt really call plain old farming an alternative life but only because its ancient technology. actually what i wana do is [somehow] buy a bunch of land (like in Montana;) and farm it (ive found that there are quite generous amounts available for cheap, so in that case just most of the land) and thus live/profit off the land... but the more complicating part lies in the home,
this is the quickest and easiet way for a single person to "build" a house... find the highest point in ur large area (to secure from flooding) and take a few sticks of dynamite and dig/prefer drill like 7 feet down (per floor;), now in my imagination[this idea needs much expeirementing] that would give like a 10' in the center crater which is extieror walls and a foundation in the time it take to drill 7' and spark the old bic. for a bigger home i would draw a star to the size of ur home and drill each point and the center for a near perfect circular crater. of course fill the crater like 1/2 a foot with cement as u would a basement, put a support beem and the point of explosions to hold the roof and higher floors... (this basic idea could also be used for underground growchambers;)

so ya theres theres my dream o livin of the fat o da lan'

maybes just make it a new thread? lol "alternative home construction"
