I just found out recently, and by recently I mean 2 hours ago that Taco Bell apparently has a company revenue of 1.8 Billion U.S.

Now I NEVER understood how Taco Bell is populair, how the fuck do people think they can by a meal with meat for 80 cents????? HOOOOWWWW??????

Now I've had friends who've worked at almost every fast food joint you can imagine, I know two guys who worked at Taco Bell.

Now one of those guys told me about the ground beef they keep in the freezer, he told me they kept the meat in large sacks and that every week or so a shipment of more ground beef in bags came to put in the freezer, now there were 5 rows of these bags in the freezer, USUALLY they didn't get to the last row, sometimes they didn't even get to the second last row before the new shipment of meat arrived.

Now one very busy week they eneded up getting to that last row and used the meat.

He told me he had worked there for 9 months before they had to go to that last row of ground beef and him knowing guys there that worked for more than a year he said that those bags of frozen ground beef had been unused sitting there in the back of the freezer for God knows how long but at teh very least probably a year and a half if not more.

Ever since then I've never though of eating at Taco Bell, not that I ever ate there often to begin with.

Also, vegetables are usually put out for the whole day and sometimes it takes 3-4 dates to go through say one batch of tomatoes.

    Something to keep in mind.

Yet so many people still go for those 2$ deals where u get a burito, taco and drink, and at regulair price the drink costs near twice more than the f^ckign taco with meat in it!

I am really pissed off when these shiity food shacks make so much fucking money and good local restaurants go down under, like one very good schnitzel place I loved to go to.

God how much I hate this god damn continent!!!

Except Cuba, their great cigars put em over the hump.

Non-chain resteraunts have a failure rate hovering around 75 percent.

ok maybe they should start putting the beef in the tacos. The last time i ate there, which was a very long time ago, I was like, "where's the beef".

ppl go to the chains cos they know what to expect. The mom's 'n pop's u never know what to expect. I've been to one independent fast food restaurant while on the road and it was worse than McD's, both of us ended up tossing the food out, something we've never done before.

And then there are some fine gems of family owned food shacks here in Toronto that service faster than McD's and blows them out of the water in taste, nutritious too. But you gotta be in the know, which sucks for everyone.

i'm not going to hurt my own business by giving details, but veggies sitting out for 3-4 days in nothing compared to what you're likely to get pretty much anywhere.

and apparently your friends worked in a taco bell run by utter fucking morons, but 99.99999999% of people in food service know to rotate the food in the freezers, so in most places no beef would have been in there more than 10 days or so, and the fresh stuff would have gone to the back instead of just constantly using new stuff and pushing the rotten crap to the back over and over

    Taco Bell doesn't taste good.

That's enough of a reason not to eat there.

I worked at taco bell in high school. Most of what is in the ground beef is filler and soy. Like the previous posters said we never used anything past the expiration date.

There's such a thing called slow weeks, and the Taco Bell my friend worked at had pretty deep metal buckets for the veggies, letus and tomato.

Yeah the beef has filler but that's no surprise, as far as I know the most populair items at the Taco Bell my friend worked at was the bean burrito and the rice and beef burito, in short items without veggies.

Also we only had one taco bell for miles, I mean, aside from toronto to the south, it would take you an hour to get to another one.

    I disagree

The local mexican and pizza places I frequent, all ingredients are made daily on the premises. Everything is fresh and local!

But maybe that is just my city..it has an interesting vibe to it. Buy local is HUGE here and everyone supports local places and always want fresh stuff.

Those two resturants, deliver for sure, and I am sure there are others, I just don't know a lot about other places.

    HACCP

food safety inspectors make you throw out anything past expiration, and if you are found to be a repeat offender you are made to close, if the health department in your little burg is corrupt, that's your business, but I know the guys at the health department here, and they are hard asses about food safety, and I feel fucking good about that.

Ever watch the show Restaraunts from Hell?

OMG, it's a hick town I'm talking about here that the Taco Bell I knew was at.

Either way anything with meat in it that claims to be a meal for under a buck is wrong to me.

Anything with gordon ramsey in it is bullshit for one thing

for another, a lot of practices in professional kitchens, that, in reality are no big deal, are blown out of proportion by paranoid people

you are never going to get sick from leftover, never left the kitchen, day old rolls made into stuffing, it is not going to happen, sorry, just because something looks dirty, doesn't mean it is, and just because someone is cutting meat on wood, doesn't mean it's a health hazard, maple can be sterilized just as well as corian can, better than marble can.

if you have a problem with a paricular taco bell, report them to the local health department, I myself, do not eat at taco bell, their food is too similar a texture going down as coming up to me, I don't like thinking about vomit while I am eating.

don't slam the whole chain because one bad place though, come on. that's absurd. it's not even remotely statistically viable.
