is all the hair supposed to want to go to the scalp? backcombing is seeming to make my hair ridiculous. all the hair is gathering at the top, and i just have thin little strands at the bottom. am i doing it correctly?

as long as you are not backcombing, just keep your hair clean and let it do its thing

ok, i jsut dreaded my friends hair a few days ago and she has super strait hair. heres what i did- (this works a lot better with thin dreads, like 1/2"-3/4" piece)
    1. separate a chunk
    2. braid the hair once, then again with different strands
    3. backcomb a bit, pushing toward the scalp
    4. separate the chunk into two a few inches down from the backcombed part and rip the two pieces apart, forcing the knot up the dread and tightening it. do this many times, untill the knot feels really tight. twist the hair a bit and separate into new pieces each time.
    5. repeat 3 and 4 untill you reach the end
    6. palm roll
    7. if you really must, put a bit of wax on your palms and roll the dread, but if you do it right, this makes such tight, nice looking dreads that you prolly wont want the wax. ill get a pic up as soon as i can photograph my friend :)

its funny, this is so opposite to my own dreads. but i guess everyone wants something a little different.
