ive been wanted dreads for about 2 months now. so i have been preparing my hair. washing with residue free shampoo and combing it less often. my hair was getting longer. it was at like 4 and a half inches. i know thats a little short to start dreads. but i was saposed to get them tomroow. my parents weer getting a little mad at my hair length and made me cut it. i didnt get much cut. only a inche off. so my hair is 3 and a half inches. is this still good to dread? or should i grow it out more. i am willing to put as much time into them as posible if they arnt to short to dread right now. or i will wait. also i got my hair thinned to make it not as puffy so my parents would think it was shorter. would that prevent my hair from locking???
I guess it would prevent it, i have thin straight hair and how ever i neglected it wouldnt knot, i mean thats me, but i got my hair backcombed when it was 4 inches long, it was really thin and my whole head was spiked up, looked abit odd, but patience came in, i wore a hat out alot, and now my dreads are about 9 months old, very knotty, fairly a good length to tie, and a variety of thick and thin... no wax!
in my opinion, to be safe yea, back comb it at 6 inches... it will spike up, cos shorter i guess it will be harder to deal with, my hair length was different all around so i kinda had short and thin, fat and slightly longer.. so yea...
yeah i back combed it. it was about 3.5 inches. but my friend did alot and they came out like shit. and i didnt have time to do my whole head. so i washed them out. and im gonna do them this weekend. and my hair will be thicker/longer.
