well, everyone told me not to use wax to dread my hair. but i backcombed it, and it looked cool at first, but now they've all practically fallen out, even though i've got rubber bands in my dreads. my hair just wants to be completely straight. it's so annoying.

so now i will need to take out all the rubber bands and backcomb again. but i've got to use some kind of mouse or something to hold it in place.

    what should i do?

hunny please dont use wax! mine virtually all fell out but then knotted back up by themselves, yours will too ;)
if you really need to use something try aloe vera to tame the stray hairs :)

everybody's hair is different. My hair is super-straight and really thin. When I first started, I backcombed and used no wax, but after a week they were just as straight as my hair was before. Left em for a month, no brushing, and nothing. Not even a single knott! So Next time I kinka made knots in the dreads while I was backcombing them, too keep em together. that seemed to work, and yes, I had to use a small amount of wax on the outside, to keep them together. After a couple of months they knotted up really really well so wax was never needed again. :)

I think when you start the dreading process, if you're backcombing, use what ever you need for your hair type. It's just trial and error. Everybody can tell you not to do this or that, but we're all different. I never had a problem with wax when I used it when I started dreading. Maybe people use too much, I dunno. I used it just to keep the outside of the dread from falling apart and so the inside could dread up, and it worked.
