I can understadn what you mean. What was left of The Doors came here for a few gigs on New years Eve and there abouts, but they priced the tickets right out of my range. I would have like to have seen them even though Jim was'nt there.

they've never been the best of communicators! and the rumour mills have done their bit already. ledzeppelin.com only shows a date 11.13.07 - is that the date for the only gig they might do (along with their new release) ? or the date they'd announce the 2008 tour ?

Be happy you're going to miss out on this-- errrrr..... musical ummmm... experience (yeah, we'll go with that). Led Zep was a very good band for five years at the MOST. IMO their best shows BY FAR were when they were covering Yardbirds tour dates in '68 and '69 that Page had committed to before that group broke up.

To me Led Zeppelin were gods of wasted talent. There were damned few shows after '73 worth listening to. The problem? Apart from the time demands of touring (which they took multiple long breaks from) and a few tragedies that happened along the way, they did very little rehearsing as a band... and they really didn't have to in order to sell out concerts but their music suffered. Add some drug abuse and the fact that they didn't exactly take care of themselves (particularly Page and Plante) and you have a recipe for sparkling mediocrity. Have you heard Robert Plante sing recently? Neither have I (I've listened to him try). Led Zep were great for backing out of tour dates and their mafiosa wannabe manager Peter Grant was great for intimidating the managers of opening acts that had the unmitigated gall to put on a decent show opening for them. God forbid they should be expected to be PREPARED to put on a decent show.

Be happy these creaky dinosaurs will not have the chance to shit in your ear but there's no doubt that these bent and hobbling relics - monuments to excess and giving it the least you can- were to creak out an album there would be enough suckers willing to buy it that it would be profitable enough to keep them all in Geritol & methadone and riding Hoverounds until the day comes when they get the chance to get booked for that great gig in the sky.

 

Well maybe you should have gotten a job and made the money yourself rather than blaming your family for your problems !!!

 

I wouldn't be suprised if they do end up doing a small tour.

Tix will still be rediculously priced however.
