There is an employee here at the canyon that says she is veggie because she doesn't eat beef, pork, or chicken. I have noticed that she does have the puddings, and will get a soup that has chicken stock/broth in it, and junk food that has gelatin in it and dessert made with dairy. So I was just curious if there was a special term used for people who won't actually chew on a chicken leg but will eat something made with chicken stock....or some other hidden meat products
maybe shes a veggietian, jus like not too sure about everything. im sure she has good intentions..jus not "aware" of everything. i mean shit since ive become veggie(not vegan), ive probably ate something with some animal product in it...even tho i dont want to....ive been researching m,ore and more to find out what "hidden" animal products in what but im not PRO yet. besides if she eats desserts with diary, that jus doesnt mean shes VEGAN. i maen i eat ice cream and stuff....jus not meat or any other meat prouducts(try mhardest but its so hard with so many animal products hidden in food). but me, i dont judge people on their diets haha
But she's not eating animal flesh... just animal products... which maybe to her are essentially the same thing as other animal products such as dairy or eggs. So she'd be just an unstrict vegetarian, and not a vegan... makes sense to me. Does it really matter anyway?
lol... sounds like me for the 1st few months I was vegetarian. I stopped eating meat & the more obvious things, but it took awhile for me to weed out some of those hidden things with animal products. Heck, I just found out about gelatin & I'm coming up on 2 years! I'd consider her... a "confused vegetarian" But really, DOES it matter? love, mom
Eating food made with dairy just means she's not vegan. She could still be vegetarian. A lot of people don't know what gelatin is made from. That doesn't mean they don't think they are veggie. It just means they don't know about something. If she is eating foods that she knows are made with animal stock or broth then she is omni. A veggie will not eat anything that they know an animal has died to provide. You can't make chicken stock without a dead chicken. That doesn't mean you won't accidentally eat something that has chicken stock in it. I don't think you should lose your veggie license if you eat the vegatarian rice dish at a local restaurant and then find out that they cooked it in chicken stock. Now if you eat it next week after you already know it has chicken stock in it, then take that license away and go back to a learner's permit. Kathi Still on my 2 year beginner's license
Nothing was said about not eating fish or seafood, so if she does she is an omnivore. If she wants a special label she is a pescetarian, but knowingly eating broth made from other animal's flesh would just make her an omni.
But not everyone is vegetarian for the animals. She's not eating animal flesh if she's eating broth which by definition makes her a vegetarian! I mean come on she's just beginning anyway right?
I could be a vegetarian so very easy, because I love my veggie so much... The only problem is, I like meat too... And I have no qualms about eating it... So watch out little woodland creatures here I come and I'm hungry... lol !!!
I'm deducing by that list she eats fishes/sealife. if she knowingly consumes animal products, she's still omni, no matter what her intentions might be.
I don't know. That seems like a fine line to draw. Chicken broth has chicken flesh soaked in it. While she may not be eating the flesh, she is consuming any juices that were once in the flesh. To me that does not sound very vegetarian. We don't really know that she is just beginning or wants to push her diet any further. This may be where she wants to be. And the seafood question has not been answered.
If she eats fish, the term pescetarian is sometimes used. I've also seen flexitarian for someone who is almost, but not quite vegetarian.
Wow ... I have to say I lost alot of respect for a certain poster here, who I used to really like, and look up to.. Don't be so self righteous, and, please ... step down from your thrown and judge people by what they are trying to improve on, not by what they have yet to.. You know who you are ... i'm not the first to call you out. In responce to the OP - She may not fit everyone's description on 'vegetarian' ... but she sure as hell is doing a world of good by cutting out the meat. I would give her major props for that.
