funny how people think that if you live in a place that hit -15F to-20F in the winter you can't grow food .........i work in northern alberta in the winter and temperatures hover around -30F to -40F in the winter which is great for me because i build ice roads .........and guess what i'm surrounded by ??.FARMS

Shrooms are a gray area drug in Canada if they are not dry they are legal. If you own land You still need to pay land tax even if you make no cash you would just pay no income tax. There are lots of great spots near a small town in BC called Tumbler Ridge, lots of great hippies there also.

Hi everyone new to the forum game so excuse me for interupting the flow of ideas but the original poster had a very good thought with the purchase of north Ont. bush land.
The cost is very inexpesive for example there is a plot of 307 acres for approx.$25000 and smaller plots that priced lower accordingly. This area is abondant in fish and game and has a good growing season from May til early Sept. I can help with other information about the area as I live reasonibly close and I am in the process of planning the great escape back to nature myself.

i'm completely interested if this is still going on! it would be a few years until i could make it up there, but i'd love to see this happen and would put money towards it when, and if, possible.

Sounds good, I could get that much together or more if we were serious about getting this going but we'd really have to start conversing bouncing ideas off each other and getting the details fleshed out, 200 broke hippies with nothing but land isnt a great place to start from, atleast a plan would be good.

    if'n this is still serious

i'm kinda new to the string thing; i don't know if i'm suppose to put my comments before or after your quote, so here it is.
dude, i'm a cat of 43 & i enjoy all ages. i'm free spirited and enjoy living life rather than making it. i love swimming, skinnydipping that is, hiking and camping. i recrationally use greenbud, shrooms, & electric-wine. i'm glad to know others find their own spiritual path, as long as they don't crack on mine; i'm a christian/buddist. there are pleanty of places to cross the boarder, but i wonder about the mounties making visits to "check-up" on the people living in such a place? i can come up with a little $$, although i do have some people that have been exceptionally kind to me and i really must reimburse them before i go gallivanting off to some hippie commune, never to return. R U setting this thing up, or is it a wish-list item? i would really like to hear more on how the group would generate $$ for basic needs, outside of food that can be grown & clothes that can be made. also, do U intend for it to be a tent-city, or do you have some plans for shelter? i have some ideas that could bring a measure of comfort (electricity & the like) without bringing in the federlist, shuffle of commercialized and industrialized meyham of today's daily expected life-paradigm. please shoot me a line here or @ my e-mail; crazydiamond_b4u@peoplepc.com
looking to hear from U soon. PEACE!!!!!!!

I'm extremely interested in any commune opportunities. I have a small amount to invest in it with, but am willing to work for my keep, etc. I'd prefer east coast/PA area for ease of getting there - but I honestly don't care.

My contact info is right here on my profile, so drop me a line.

werent you makihiko the op of this thread ??? for curiosities sake, just what have you done to come to realize the dream of your communeor done nothing but attempt to lead ppl on from the start then disappear for months only to come back n say what ya did???

I personally find it pretty typical of folks, more so the younger ones than the older ones,,, come on here have big dreams n yet fail to act even on the personal level n then come back with smartass comments like the one above,,, this was after all your thread your dream...
perhaps it is time to close the thread down

Well if people read this thread....then they get a better idea of what they facing trying to gather together to form an intentional community....mostly a bunch of hot air. Much less than 1% make it from talk to reality that survives the first year, let alone continues through 20.

So i would leave it and let people keep talking.....it seems to be what most think is involved...that's 1 reason why homesteading is soo much better at actually getting things done....you rely only on your self to do...and much easier not to make excuses to not Do. But we yearn for joining with people of like-mind hence the pull for intentional community.

You know people unless you are actually doing something beside talking....you ain't doin. Pretty obvious - aye ?...so while you talk, Do something to make it more real than just rambling off at the mouth... this society that you all want to escape from has taught you too well.

And to those Doin, YES, and thank you, and please let's hear more from you....you know even when you are doing "just homesteading" you usually leave the door open for others to join in...just that we usually find a bunch of freeloaders come a knockin....cold hard truth eh dili ?

So I leave this so that we may all learn and grow....sometimes learning comes from finding out what does not work...and as someone i once worked with used to say.....iffn you can't talk and work at they same time we appreciates the quiet.

    yeehah...

and hey peace and joy are in the doin....frustration abounds when just talkin

    lovin y'all

    Peace

    Blessings

    Namaste
