How can someone explain demon possesions, and when they are excercized out... it's done in the name of The Lord... so does that not say that the god they believe in, is the correct one? My curiosoty bugs me. Also... any of you christians out there seen Zeitgeist, and are still on board with the bible and whatnot? I find myself slowly converting myself out of christianity... and into a world of chaos and difficult decisions, and I'm just making surre I'm going the right way(That way being... away from The Bible)
I apologize. When I looked for a Religion forum... I look for "R" rather than "P" (Religion, not Philosophy) I'd still apreciate some of your answers as well. I'm sure over there I'll be barraged with those crazy christians that will butcher me for "straying away", as well as people on the complete opposite polarity.
well theres like zero people on, but i'm catholic still a christian i guess but different than christianity
Either of you seen Zeitgeist? I thought there would be no way I'd be convvinced AWAY from christianity, so I prepared myself... then watched it. I was astonished... and find very much of it so simply beleivable... there shouldn't be any question in my mind, that my whole life up to now has been a lie... Which I think is the mayin reason I having such trouble departing from it. I liked being secure that I was definitely going to heaven and whatnot... Now I'm fucked I don't know where, or WHO to turn to. I attend a Private, Christian school, and have horribly republican mother and grandparents... all my friends are from school or church... or still christian from some other way. I guess my first choice is meditation... I started a while back, just to be able to handle stress better. But I think my new goal for meditation is finding whatever is out there, or not out there.
I personally think it's some kind of mental ailment like a psychosis or schizophrenia episode or something. The human mind is very complex.
I'm an atheist so i'd say you are making the right choice. Religion while there may be some truth is really just a way of controlling people and making them do what a certain group of people believed was right. Obviously they dont need the bible to control people these days but waaaay back in the day religion was a good form of social control. Now im not saying religion is bad, though it fuels wars, hate and fiddling with alter boys a lot of the messages spread in Christianity are good and religion can help people get back on track etc etc. Though at the end of the day its just giving you guidelines of how to live your life. Its god fearing evangelicals that who walk around preaching and telling me i'll burn in hell who i would like to crucify their testicles. I believe in God, i believe there was a man called Jesus, thats it as far as i go on Christianity. I dont believe Jesus was the son of god, i think he was probably just a nice guy, i believe there may be an all mighty being, but that he didn't create the earth, he didn't make frogs fall from the sky and some bread and fish didn't feed 10,000. My 50 pence
There is no such thing as possession Its called a mental illness. Problem solved. Therefore christianity = false. can we all get on now?
We will never know until we meet our maker. My girlfriends aunt is a nun. in her younger days she wouldve been like you girls on here. She was swimming in the sea in ireland and drowned. she was dead on the boat for 5 minutes, when she spluttered and woke up. She says she had an experience and thats what made her become a nun. Although she never says what happened to her and questions her faith all the time. But she is adament that what you do in this life is very important in your final outcome. So be good!
except for, you know, those thousands of 'heretics' that were murdered. but whatever, I don't count them as organized either, even though they were. especially the gnostics. I don't blame you for your ignorance though, history is written by the winners.
but really zeitgeist is what swayed you? try http://skepticsannotatedbible.com/ or the book Hiram's Key to sway you away further. or logic. but as to where to go, I suggest reading Be Here Now by Ram Dass. anything by Wilson will help you getting trapped in something else the way you were trapped in christianity.
there are MANY MANY MANY explanations for demons other than the catholic one. you have to understand that other religions have demons too, and other ways of getting them out. google it.
my bad... ok, they were the first of the organized christians to still exist today, if that's a less ignorant description. my point was just that all the kinds of christianity today stemmed at one point from catholocism, thus meaning that catholics are in fact christians, at least to the extent that anyone really is
Is Christianity false? Of course. All it takes to answer that question is a look back upon the origins of Christianity and its history. Now, whether or not there is a God is a different question entirely... But yes, Christianity is a bunch of bullshit, lies, and quite the blood-soaked history. I am still open to the idea of a God, but I absolutely detest the notion of "organized religion.."
I'm pretty sure I read about a sect that traces its root to the gnostics that were around before paul's church. but I would definitely consider catholic christians, in the sense I call protestants christians.
