it's kinda of a wierd concept to me. the sheer tininess of the uk. it's itty bitty. my mother lives 1000 miles away from me. i've lived all over the usa, except the northeast, and every bit is so distinct from every other bit. but there's such a huge area between those places that it makes sense that there's such a big difference. but in the uk it's all compressed down into a tiny area. in the usa, you'd have to go hundreds of miles before you'd notice an accent difference. i mean, it kinda matters to people here where they're from, but i've lived so many different places i've never really grown attached to any of them or considered them indicative of me.
