I have already lost all of the faith I have ever had for the horror movie genre. And I don't have much significant faith left in movies at all. So how disgusted and furious could I possibly get at Rob's latest disgrace to the human sight and whatever part of the brain processes writing?
Looks pretty good. Should be interesting to see Zombie be restrained somewhat being it's a remake and all.
i didnt care too much for house of a thousand corpes but, i thought devils rejects was fucking great and the soundtrack was awesome too...i loved the dark humor...i dont know how the hallowween remake will be but from the looks of it it may be very good...
i like rob zombie's works. i'd see it, i just wouldn't call it "halloween." i'd go ahead and consider it a totally different work inspired by greatness in an attempt to find that intangible thing that made all those greats so great.
*flails about wildly* Devil's Rejects and House of 1000 Corpses were fucking the shit. I'd definitely see his version of Halloween.
Devil's Rejects I think is one of my favorite movies. I only think because I hate movies in general (too long for this attention span!), and I haven't really seen many movies lately, so I don't remember which ones were my favorites...lol.
i like a lotta movies. i just watched the fountain and thought it was really pretty. i like the long movies. right now i'm watching bladerunner. with a couple little ones, even revisiting a childhood favorite is like paging through book. but it gives me more time to appreciate the nuances and think about it.
the devils rejects was okay........ NOT great, however...... it just took too much from those 70 horror films...
yeah, it's a time period that can't be perfectly revisited. everything is different. but that doesn't mean that we can't enjoy someone paying homage to something that he loved every bit as much as we did. me? i think i'm watching 40's musicals all weekend.
okay, Ive already seen a diesel run over a character in a movie (texas chainsaw massacre, original), why do I need to see the same thing again in devils rejects??
because it's just a trip into rob zombie's mind, where he's saying "i'm putting together my favorite moments and trying to make a cohesive whole of them all." it's not about what you've never seen, it's about seeing it through someone else's appreciative eyes.
House of 1000 Corpses was kind of cool overall, though it verged on "music video" in places and that kind of put me off. The Devil's Rejects was probably better about that, but again the final Freebird scene was cheese overload. I've heard Freebird before Mr. Zombie, I don't need to sit here and listen to the whole song while virtually nothing is happening onscreen. Oh, but the originality/unoriginality thing doesn't really bother me, because as KC said it's more of an homage than anything else. His love for horror movies shines through as does his obvious desire to present them in a way that hasn't been done before, even if he doesn't always succeed.
so true. i love house of 1000 corpses, devils rejects was ok but nothing special. i'm intrigued by the new halloween, both because of rob and because the original was a damn good movie for its time too. still, i probably won't see it for a long time because i almost never go to the movies
House was a decent homage to earlier horror works. Devils Rejects seemed less inspired. I've never been overwhelmed by the horror genre in general anyway. I don't scare easy, so it kinda takes away the point. I really loved 28 Days because it was an intresting character drama alongsid the horror. If you don't have likable protagonists, your horror will suck, and that's the problem, I see with almost all horror films.
The original movie Halloween was a classic I don't know how this jerk thinks he can improve upon carpenter's work but good luck to him, I'll wait six months and then rent the DVD. Like all zombie films expect a speeded up version of michael myers, a departure from the slow lumbering michael myers of old Hotwater
