Comparing Jet Li and Bruce Lee is kinda like comparing apples and spinach. Sure they're both martial arts film stars, and both plants... Bruce Lee did reinvent the kung fu cinema scene. He was also one of a few people I'd call a martial arts genius. He took Wing Chun a somewhat archaic style of chinese boxing, and made a dynamic martial art from it. Jet Li, much more a pure background in Eagle Claw, which is a longfist (kickboxing essentially) style of wu shu. As far as martial arts decoration goes, Jet Li is the most decorated person to have ever competed in Chinese Wu Shu championships. 15 medals I believe, and the Chinese wu shu championships are essentially the olymipcs of martial arts. I love 'em both.
Sure Ash fought zombies, but Jet Li beat up a whole karate school in Fists of Legend. you'll often notice that Japanese guys are the villians in Chinese cinema... What, lets say 1 zombie equals two black belts? That fair? That means Jet Li could have taken on like 50 zombies or so in that one scene.
and 50 zombies is like a scrape for Bruce lee; he could take on 200 atleast. So, if Bruce lee and Jet li were teamed up.......we would all be doomed if they went evil!
Thanks Ninja. It's really no big thing. I train martial arts four hours a day, and I've probably seen a thousand or so martial arts flicks over the years. It's kinda my thing.
haha, no prob.! i practice martial arts at least,..2 hours a day. im getting better, but i wouldn't call myself a sensei though. i am still a grasshopper!
The two countries have never had a very good relationship. Chinese were the main group that the Japanese experimented on/slaughtered during World War II. Unit 731 didn't even consider Chinese people to really be humans, nothing more than guinea pigs for scientific use. Although relations have improved some since then, I'm sure it will never be some great friendship.
Well yeah. Japan killed 20 million Chinese during World War 2. Nanking was something that the nazi's frowned on. It's bad when you upset nazi sensibilities... I'm not saying it isn't understanable. It's just something I've noticed from a lot of Chinese and Hong Kong cinema.
I was just saying, it makes sense when you look at their relationship. A lot of japanese cinema in the 60s/70s recognized the subtle racism, and lots of times japanese characters had hostility toward half-breeds (often half jap half chinese.)
if i had a big chunk of land somewhere that i didn't have to listen to anyone's tast in music or their political opinions, my own being cosidered pretty radical by some, in a world that seems to hate any kind of good sense, i'd gladly 'take in' everyone. but i live in a very small detatched rented house that has a wonderful landlord who lives next door and i prefer to remain on the very good terms we currently enjoy with him. plus i already have one wife who is one more person already then i'd really prefer having to live with at all. but i certainly do wish there were some way i actally was able to do anything for anyone, especially some of my favorite people i've almost never met. if we lived in a different world, one without recorded music, radio or televison, where fences were fewer, governments weren't so all powerful, and there really were ninja's and ronan and not all of these things that prevent people from living by real honor, then, by all means, i would do so gladly. though i'm no yojimbo, just a humble hermit, who'se house would be remote in the mountain wilderness, were i free to build it there. =^^= .../\...
